I am doing a research paper on “potty training” and someone told me that early training can cause obsessive-compulsive-disorder. Do you know if their is any truth to this?

I don't know. Back in the 1980s the theory was that early potty training made kids neurotic. Or else it made Mom neurotic; I can't remember which. I'm of the Whatever Gets Us Through This In One Piece Is Good Enough school of parenting myself. My kids are 27 and 23, which means I'm retired until one of them produces grandchildren.

I am doing a research paper on "potty training" and someone told me that early training can cause obsessive-compulsive-disorder. Do you know if their is any truth to this? I just loved this article got lots of chuckles out of it. I agree with you on most of the things that you said my daughter was two and a half when she got potty trained atleast daytime trained. The diapers were just so expensive and pull ups are just more expensive diapers. They feel the same as a diaper the ones that get cold or lets the kid feel that they are wet were a bugger joke than the ones without all the extras. I hope that you can answer this for me, even if not in time for the paper to be turned in. Unfortuantely my computer is broken and my e-mail address is shut down, so i use a computer if and when i get next to one

Thank You for your time and patience
