They've seen enough of Bush's act to get wise to the costs of maintaining the relationship. I don't think we ever did reach a resolution with Italy in the shooting death of Italy's agent in Iraq. I tend to believe the shooting was intentional...but then again, I'm just a terrorist loving, un-American flip flopping coward and naturally would doubt the truth as our government tells it.
