Whenever I hear 'fight them there so we don't have to fight them here' I want to ask if Bush has information that the 'terrorists' are building landing craft and conspiring an invasion of Atlantic Beach? Or will they use their version of B-52 s to carpet-bomb Kansas (which has some appeal). We have provided our enemies with targets - real live Americans to kill - within reach of jokers who can't speak a word of English and could never infiltrate for a sneak attack in the US. Wake up, George, and smell the dead bodies - American soldiers you are squandeing like so many poker chips, in a game where you hold a weak hand.

We're not screwed, I have hope. I have a recurring vision of a program I saw on the nature channel. It was footage of a pack of hyeanas attacking a lion. Through relentless attacks from every direction the hyeanas eventually brought the lion down in the cruelest fashion. I don't mean to imply that liberals or others with reason are hyeanas, but every exposure of truth against Bush is in some way is equivalent to a crippling hyeana bite to the lion. Bush might make it to the finish line in 2009, but we can be certain he'll be politically all hacked like the lion in my vision. It would be nice to see Bush go down...American needs it for healing.

MORE TRICKS NEEDED

BUSH MAKES A HARD TURN backward. But on stage he can’t pull the war rabbit out of his hat. The guy can’t admit a mistake. So now it is back to the sales job that hasn’t sold in quite

"Iraq will be a free nation and a strong ally in the Middle East"

Yeah? And what if they freely elect an Islamic government that has no desire to be an ally, strong or otherwise?

We'll see how long we let them keep their freedom then.

Let's hope that when the bogus milestone of three thousand dead soldiers hits, and the bill for Iraq is approaching 400 billion that American's can be more receptive to a national introspection and honesty. It's no sweat off my brow to stay the course even though I am a little uneasy with a whitehouse sanctioned policy of totrure and sponorship of Iraqi death squads. Like I've said before, I'll stand with our troops till the last ounce of their blood is spilled...I'm good that way.

I think it's great that Bush is giving our military the chance to be all they can be...unfortunately for some it will be IED fodder.

Seymour Hersh, who said on Hardball last night (transcript not yet available) that Bush believes God told him to invade Iraq, and he’s not going to leave until he has something that looks like a victory.

It's all in the New Yorker article.

Current and former military and intelligence officials have told me that the President remains convinced that it is his personal mission to bring democracy to Iraq, and that he is impervious to political pressure, even from fellow Republicans. They also say that he disparages any information that conflicts with his view of how the war is proceeding.

Bush’s closest advisers have long been aware of the religious nature of his policy commitments. In recent interviews, one former senior official, who served in Bush’s first term, spoke extensively about the connection between the President’s religious faith and his view of the war in Iraq. After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the former official said, he was told that Bush felt that “God put me here” to deal with the war on terror. The President’s belief was fortified by the Republican sweep in the 2002 congressional elections; Bush saw the victory as a purposeful message from God that “he’s the man,” the former official said. Publicly, Bush depicted his reëlection as a referendum on the war; privately, he spoke of it as another manifestation of divine purpose.
