[...] Now, there’s nothing wrong with being an “idea” person, but at some point you need to work with “do” persons to get things done. But Bushies don’t seem to grasp the “do” thing. In fact, it seems to me that Bushies, and righties as a whole, lack appreciation for processes, procedures, and institutional structures — those evil bureaucracies — as well as professionalism in general. As someone who’s done some big-project managing I look at FEMA in the aftermath of Katrina and see a total institutional breakdown. Things like established procedures and institutional memory are what allow big, far-flung teams of people to work together in a time- and cost-efficient manner to accomplish tangible goals. Without them, even hard-working and intelligent people will blunder. [...]

[...] Oooo, the dreaded career professionals. Why do their superiors not order them released? Many Americans cling with religious intensity to the notion that somehow Saddam had no terrorist ties — a notion used to delegitimize our war effort.
Ps. no slight intended toward fishers, what ever your catch may be. It's just that fishing usually is not of great consequence, not like, say, invading a country or declaring the right to waive laws that might get in the way....

I gotta wonder why anyone would even read rightie blogs. Isn't part of their whole "appeal" that they are not the intellectual elite that they hold in disdain? Doesn't that, by definition, render their opinion on anything more important than what bait to use and what time of day they bite better, useless? I hear better view points with more sense on the Red Green Show.

Well done Maha, you've got more stomach for troglodyte "thought" than I do, and you go there (repeatedly!) so I don't have to. Sort of like my cat who would regularly bring home dead yucky mice.

People on the left in particular need to wake up to the new reality in this country:

1) the concept of fascism, what it means and how it close it describes what's going on in this country

2) the notion that two wars are being fought: the one in the Middle East and one just as serious, if not more so, here at home.

It's amazing to me to watch the awareness of these and other realities spreading through our culture. The first notion, fascism, has grown to the point where the word is fairly commonly used, and used with accuracy, among the left. I have yet to see people fully understand and accept the second idea of two wars.

2006 is going to be a make or break year, whether the remaining sane people in this country can stop the war(s), or whether Bush will pull off the gloves, and up the ante, say by attacking Iran.

Key to winning in 2006 is to fully understand what is going, and calling it by its real name, fascism, and war on people at home. This is the same process that an individual uses to stop a bully - recognizing what is going on and confronting the bully.

"slow motion coup d'etat".....glad to see you write that. After the 2000 election when the Supremes installed Bush, one of my friends said, 'We are witnessing a silent coup d'etat" .
Sure makes me want to see a lot of brainstorming about how to ensure non-hackable elections next fall.
