Tin Foil Time

Monday I wrote, “I have no doubt the audiences of Faux Nooz and rightie talk radio are being told, over and over, ad nauseum, that the atrocity at Qana was staged, and that the Fable of the Staged Atrocity at Qana is already firmly established in rightie mythos.” I didn’t even have to look.

Via Digby, even Jefferson Morley of the Washington Post called the “Qana was staged” rumor the “right-wing equivalent of the Sept. 11 conspiracy theories.” Glenn Greenwald noticed that the righties are even making all-too-familiar arguments about how buildings collapse.

As Morley says, the Qana conspiracy theories fall apart when you ask about details, such as “How did Hezbollah truck in bodies to the Qana site without the pervasive Israeli aerial surveillance catching it on film?” or “How did any a demolition crew prep the World Trade Center towers for implosion without anyone noticing?” Oh, wait, wrong conspiracy. Sorry.

It won’t matter what evidence comes along that refutes “Qana was staged”/”WTC controlled detonation” theories. These notions are firmly embedded in the heads of the susceptible.

And the moral is, beware of believing what you want to believe.

  1. Or as I have said before those who stand for nothing will fall for anything….thanks righties for making my point.:)

  2. “beware of believing what you want to believe”
    How true….
As the Israelis continue the attack with aerial bombardment and advance further into Lebanon with ground forces, as Hezbola continues to fire rockets into Israel, a rotund chorizo of a man from Texas( of all places) named John Hagee preaches to his flock of insane killer sheep that this is just the start of the glorious return of our savior Jesus Christ, former prince peace turned God of War.
While watching the “News” on TV last night I was shocked at what I was seeing. Blistering heat waves, potential crop failures, potential collapse of the American auto industry, uncovered lies regarding NORAD and 9/11, Flight 93, wars in Iraq and L:ebanon spinning out of control, our lawmakers holding meetings to discover if Iraq is in a civil war (DUH!),Hillary shown lambasting Rummy one moment then smiling broadly and shaking his hand the next, Israeli officials dictating to America, the “scorecard” regarding the deaths of Israeli and Lebanese civilians while George and Condi wonder how many days this madness is to continue, Muslim heads of state meeting in Maylasia and the former leader of Maylasia calling for all Muslim countries to dump the dollar.Gas prices in the $3.00’s, a falling housing market, Tony Blair in deep shit, Bush’s physical proves he is in “Superior” shape (For a 60 year old psychotic) Oh my, I ALMOST forgot Mel Gibson and the totally Non -story that Mel( while driving drunk and dissing the arresting officer)said he doesn’t care much for Jews and thinks they started all wars and Jackie Mason comes to Mel’s defense, and it’s a total coincidence that all this crap “happens” at the same time. This is true serendipity.A conspiracy theorists’ nirvana.
I WANT to believe this is a really bad nightmare, but it just keeps spinning out of control………..
So much for a “humble” foreign policy promised in 2000 by the bumbling “governator “of Texas.

  3. And furthermore, buried in page A-6 of today’s Olando Sentinel is this little story; Congressmen Say fouled-up oil lease may be deliberate: Someone at the Interior department may have deliberately removed provisions from offshore-drilling contracts, giving oil companies a multi-billion dollar windfall.
They also said the department has refused to provide critical e-mails and documents that could clear up the mystery over the contracts and provisions that dictate how much in royalty payments the companies must pay the government on the leases issued in 1998 – 1999.
The Sentinel buried the story of the signing deal to begin construction of the Trans-Afghanistan petroleum pipeline in a similar fashion last year, when I contacted the editor to tell her what I thought of the placement of the story, she said they place stories in the paper based on what is of interest to the public, the headline that day was show biz gossip.

  4. Is it education (or lack thereof)? The only ‘rightie I know (son-in-law, I told her she was making a mistake) is a high school grad who is too laxy to work for a living and rails on & on about welfare queens and people of color (my term, not his) taking all the good jobs.

Anyway, righties seem to lack critical thinking skills. Ah, but they can watch nascar on TV. Go figure.

  5. Sounds more like “Luke Duke” syndrome to me…

Does your daughter prance around a lot wearing cut-offs?

  6. Perty near the same, Marvel. Left turn, left turn, left turn, go fast, go fast! WHOO!!
    Google “Squidbillies”

  7. It sounds like one of those syndromes that are caused by fruit of a family tree that has no branches.
