Do you trust the administration to tell the truth? What happened to tower seven which was hit by no plane? [...]

Sarasota. On Florida's Gulf Coast. Bush was minutes by air, and probably less than an hour's drive (if that) from Tampa's McDill Air Force Base, home of our military's Central Command.

Presumably, of course, the last place on Earth that this "war president" and "the commander in chief" would want to be (without the full panoply of scripts, wardrobe and make-up ready, of course.)

[...] So The Path to 9/11 may not have driven down the middle of the road. The Path to 9/11 might have crossed the lane gone in the ditch on the right side of the road, which of course is always More Right Than The Left TM. But The Path to 9/11 missed several key facts or inaccuracies that are more true than most people want to admit. Fake but true in a dramatic sense is the only thing that makes sense. Any actor knows this, particularly in Washington DC. Ask the actor Bush about his Sixteen words and you know this is not just a line. Fake but true? The person we know as Donald Rumsfeld is actually a hologram. This is both why he is so easily seen through and also why he cannot be fired. [...]

Who cooked it up? Most fingers point at Mr Cheney. “It did two things for Dick,” says a well-informed Washington official. “It reinforced his argument that the President should stay out of town, and it gave George W an excellent reason for doing so.”

3rd it allowed Dick to play the Al Haig role of " I'm in charge".
