I still slip up occasionally and refer to Russia as “the Soviet Union.” Does that mean I’m qualified to be Bush’s Secretary of State? Or just that I have a desperate nostalgia for the Clinton years?

Also: how did Broder go from Cabbage to Artichoke? What is the distinction?

Well, you know, Condi is right. It doesn’t make sense.

How could a few interceptors in 2007 stop the strategic deterrent of a country that hasn’t existed since 1991. I mean, they’d need time-travel, or something.

Maybe she’d been watching that Star Trek movie where they go back in time to stop the Borg. Or maybe she was rattled by the subpoena.

The Malkin video (gimme an “L”…) looks like it was produced straight out of high school, and not at a particular great high school either. Its sophmoric quality says everything you need to know about the mentality of this crowd.

I think somebody on our side could do a great counter-video, along the lines of: gimme an “I”..what’s that spell? I-N-C-O-M-P-E-T-E-N-T.

I read that yesterday at ThinkProgress, and my jaw just dropped. All day yesterday I kept thinking of Molly Ivins, who once said of something else, “it’s like opening your refrigerator and finding Fidel Castro inside. You just don’t know what to think.”

The words coming out of Bush’s mouth this week are just unbelievable, and even some of the apologists are getting scared.
