Can anyone explain to me WHY the Democrats would consider amnesty for the Telecoms in any revised FISA legislation? Other than campaign contributions, I mean. I read Glen Greenwald and I have one question. How much money were the Telecoms paid to sell out their clients and customers?

Didn't the original FISA bill contain provisions that a warrant could be obtained within 72 hours AFTER the fact and/or within 15 days AFTER the fact depending on certain circumstances?

That said, last week the Dem argument supporting Bush on FISA was because should there be a terrorist attack any Dem voting to not support Bush etc. would be blamed for the attack. Nevermind the face-value idiocy of that excuse, nobody blamed Bush for 9/11 in spite of the fact that it happened on his watch. He even got re-elected. Apparently the Dems missed that little fact when they contrived the argument to support him. Brain-dead is all I can say.

America has been betrayed by the people who are supposed to be working for America. I agree, vote them all out of office.

None of this should come as any surprise - least of all the telecom amnesty.
The Corporatist's who are our legistlator's can't look out for the peoples welfare because they're too busy lining their pocket's for future elections where they'll need more cash. "Children, can you say "Quid pro quo? I knew that you could..."
Granting these companies amnesty before knowing what they did is a travesty of justice. Though we think we know what they did, we'll never know. It's like having a suspect in police custody and giving them amnesty before the detectives can investigate what was done.
We have two choices to save America:
1. Vote them all out.
2. Public financing of elections.
There's a third choice, of course. But I'll leave it at that...
