I didn't watch it... I was too preoccupied stewing in my bitterness.

I did get to read some excerpts of the debate( if you want to call it that), and wasn't disappointed at missing any substance. One thing that pissed me off was the lame and tailored "if" question pertaining to Iran getting a nuclear bomb and attacking Israel..Niether candidate seemed to see the question for what it was and the intentionally distorted impression it perpetrates. Hillary jumped at the question with a blood lust and swore she'd incinerate every Iranian she could possibly nuke while at the same time reaffirming her fealty to Israel. Obama's answer wasn't as enthusiastic for the complete annihilation of Iran, but his even answering the question cut the legs off of his claim to reasonability and willingness to engage the Iranians in diplomacy.

If Obama is going to give credence by responding to a hypothetical that the Iranians are bent on destroying Israel with nuclear weapons, than why not just adopt Bush's stance and declare the Iranians inherently evil ,and just dismiss diplomacy altogether.. I like Obama, but his response to that question wasn't consistent with his message of change.

That was my point in the last blog entry. We can't get any NEWS from our news organizations any more. American news used to be the best in the world; now, they are just purveyors of rumors, innuendoes, and pecadillos. Where is Walter Cronkite when we need him.

In case there was any lingering doubt about how bad it was, David Brooks loved it.

Can't get better confirmation than that.

" ABC needs to hang head in shame" well yeah

Gibson and Stephanopoulous worse than you could ever imagine

Sorta like Barak in the principal's office for associating with the bad kids in class and Hillary trying to prove she's teacher's pet

Not one real issue dealt with period

ABC needs to hang their heads in shame. Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos should not be allowed near any debates from this day forward.

I agree completely. I made it through 20 minutes before turning off the television in disgust. So many desperately important topics to be discussed, and all we got was Remarks... bitter... misspoke... guns... religion... bitter... remarks... bitter. E-freakin-NUFF already.

They tape delayed the thing for us Pacific Time television viewers, so I fell asleep half way through it but the thing parts I saw only added to my dislike of Hillary Clinton and my esteem for Borack Obama. While the two moderators - both of whom I mistakenly thought were intelligent men - despite the lack of meaningful questions, Obama answered with grace, pointing out just how stupid these questions were while Hillary appeared to be enjoying it and smirking through Obama's answers. On the positive note at least the other people I the Internet seem to agree that the questions were meaningless - maybe the journalists can learn from mistakes.

I hope this ends soon, maybe its just me but I do not think we are gaining any new information from having a campaign that lasts 15 months.

I got as far as Hillary reminding us once again that she is the daughter of a factory worker from Scranton before I just had to change the channel.

ABC needs to hang their heads in shame. Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos should not be allowed near any debates from this day forward. A complete and total embarrassment for what used to be considered a decent news organization.

maha,
I haven't watched the debates since the Russert/Williams atrocity months ago.
They've become nothing more than opportunities for media millionaire faux-"journalist's" to preen in the spotlight in
front of the camera's and try to out do one another with inane "gotcha" questions. I'm sure that after each debate, the media millionaires get together for a cocktail and give each other pat's-on-the-back and "atta-boy's!"
I can learn nothing from these debates. There can be no substantive answers without meaningful questions. And, our media, is no longer capable of those.
How sad for our nation...
