Of the three most profitable global businesses - weapons, drugs, and human trafficing - weapon selling is by far the most profitable. The world is literally awash in weapons, sophisticated and small but no less deadly. Is it any wonder that people are using them with abandon? One doesn't put new, shiny toys in the attic never to be used or seen again.

WWIII should involve the entire world not just the here-and-there WWII world. Looks like the Merchants of Death are finally winning the day.

I'd never heard of South Ossetia before this morning, and at first I thought the NPR commentator was being satirical in a Mouse That Roared kind of way.

Alas, no.

It's such a complicated world. That's why I want smart, elastic brain cells answering the White House phone at 3 a.m., rather than insane, sclerotic ones.
