Blagojevich

-->
Obama Administration

I don’t follow Illinois politics, but it appears Gov. Blagojevich could be a very naughty boy. People are innocent until proven guilty, but it seems there’s a solid cause that the governor is about as corrupt as governors get. I also agree with Josh — with some of these characters, it must be pathological.

So far, not as many right-wing blogs have tried to connect Barack Obama to Blagojevich’s alleged illicit activities, although this one tries. For the record, the indictment says the Obama transition team did not participate in Blagojevich’s schemes.

    Blago replaced the republican Ryan who is currently in jail begging for a pardon from bush. Pay for Play is what passes for politics in Il. Mayor Daley probably had a party today.

  2. …the news about Blagojevich was breaking as I was driving to work this morning, and one of my very first thoughts on hearing about the wiretap evidence was just exactly what Josh wrote. I only wonder where one draws the line between “pathological” and “just bone-deep stupid”…

    This is verbatim from the indictment:

    Later in the conversation, ROD BLAGOJEVICH said he knows that the President-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the Senate seat but “they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. F**k them.”

    So I’d say no, there’s nothing even slightly damaging to Obama in this mess. But Fitzmas sure came early somewhere today…. I smell a new HBO drama series– The Wire: Chicago.

    Per Tweety just a minute ago, this could be the fourth of the last eight Illinois governors to go to jail. This includes the immediately previous governor, and I believe Blagojevich was supposed to be a reform governor! Amazing.

    And I almost hate to say this, but I’m actually getting homesick. We’re laughing our butts off. Chicago politics is always so incredibly entertaining – never a dull moment.

    Makes you appreciates guys like Elliot Spitzer who have enough sense to throw in the towel when the bell rings. That guy from Idaho, the one with the wide stance…He’s still thrashing around out there trying to get the monkey off his back when common sense says its all in vain. Although it makes for good entertainment watching ” evil doers” try to squirm out from the weight of sin.

    Well, I don’t know about the major right wing blogs but the right wingers are in a feeding frenzy to connect this to Obama. You have to know as sure as the sun comes up in the morning that they will milk this for all the drama it’s worth and then go farther. It’s what they think politics is about. That is what Rush has raised an entire generation of wingnuts to think. Ideas and governing be damned..It’s all about their soap opera, it’s all about drama! It’s entertainment ya know.
