Fallout From Wisconsin?

Last spring, Ohio Gov. John Kasich signed Senate Bill 5 (SB5) into law. Among other things, SB5 drastically reduced the collective bargaining power of all public workers, including teachers, police and firefighters.

However, it appears progressives in Ohio were able to get a referendum on the law on the ballot this November. Ohio voters will be given a chance to repeal it.

Now, all of a sudden, Gov. Kasich wants to compromise. And the unions are saying, repeal SB5 first, then we’ll talk.

Interesting development, I say.

  1. Good for Ohio. I wish we had this in WI. I have a Republican friend in Ohio who is running for judge and is on the Nov. ballot. He is very concerned about how this will impact him. Here in WI, Walker is talking all bi-partisanny. I’ll believe it when I see it, but we should still recall him. RECALL WALKER.

  2. Most of us in Ohio are saying “Compromise? We don’t need no steenking compromise!!!! And. by the way Mr. Kasich, we’re gonna ‘compromise’ your junky butt right out of the Governor’s Mansion. We Are Ohio and we are proud!

  3. Oh, now that he’s about to have his ass handed to him, he wants to compromise!
    F-him!!!

When will people finally wake up and realize that these aren’t their Dad’s “Hey now, not so fast kids- let’s slow things down a bit” Republicans?

They’re more like the, ‘Let’s throw this baby in reverse and see what the f*ck happens!’ party.

Every time recently that they’ve been given any power, it goes to their heads, and they want it all.
It’s like when you give them the keys to government, hoping for the best, they think that it’s ok for them to get in, push everybody else out, grab a bottle of tequila, fire-up a doob, put the car in “R,” and take the government out for a spin.
Something’s gonna happen, but the chances of it being good are slim and none. And Slim just left town. In a hearse…

I do think that we couldn’t find better advertisements for Democat’s having power instead of Republicans than ‘F-the unions’ Kasich, ‘Me too, F-u to the unions” Walker, “What’s in if for me?’ Scott, and “Youse disagree wid me, youse gonna be sleepin’ wid da fishes” Christie.

Now, it’s up to the Democrats to keep pointing this out to the voters.
Oh well, there’s always a chink in the armour of any plan…

Good to hear that some people in Ohio have grit, and know how to deal with a dickhead. Republican overreach is a charming thing to behold – sort of like Wiley Coyote running off the ledge, supported only by thin air.

Speaking of dickheads, I read that Rick Perry denied that man made global warming is real, in New Hampshire of all places. For all my complaints about Obama, I must say I sleep better at night with a President who believes in science and in Reality. These last two years have made me all but forget what it was like to be ruled by mental and moral midgets like Perry and his ilk.

  5. The blog at plunderbund.com has the best coverage ever of the Republican shenanigans in Ohio. It isn’t just Kasich, you know.
