Cain Scandal Expanding

First the FUNDRAISER. My annual fall fundraiser really does make the difference between me having a roof over my hear or living in a cardboard box under an overpass, so please help if you are able.

Second, I was sorry to hear that a woman has come forward today to accuse Herman Cain of sexual assault in 1997. I regret the right-wing smear job that is about to fall upon this woman, Sharon Bialek, who held a press conference today with her attorney, Gloria Allred.

I also regret that this may derail Herman Cain’s presidential campaign, as I was beginning to hope he would derail Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. But, so far, Cain’s supporters on the blogosphere are dismissing the charge as “rent-seeking” and note that the accuser is from Chicago.

  1. I’m glad to see women speaking out about what kind of men are seeking power. The courage of such women is totally admirable to me.

Is there a voting-age woman who has not encountered a Cain, a Gingrich, a Romney, a Perry?

  2. I doubt anything will derail Cain – certainly not the truth. The Koch brothers have anointed Cain – Fox has blessed Cain. He is the ONE tea party candidate who can defeat Romney, who is the unchristian heroic who must not sit on the throne which only one of the true believers can occupy.

We are going to witness an ugly brawl between Romney – and everyone else. If Romney pulls off the nomination, it will be because teabaggers failed to unite behind a single candidate. While party unity has been SOP for the GOP since Reagan, I doubt the tea party, particularly evangelicals will turn out for Romney. I also doubt that moderates will turn out for Cain in the general election. So the frontiers are fail – fail.

That doesn’t mean I’m calling the election for Obama a year early. No. But despite the fact Obama is vulnerable in this economy and political climate, none of the GOP candidates looks capable of generating the broad support or enthusiasm which could unseat President Obama.

  3. When wingnuts see the name Gloria Allred, they don’t read any further – the allegations against Cain are prima facie false, in their eyes.

I’ve read that Cain’s numbers have peaked, no doubt due to these scandals. And I suspect that people like Karl Rove have something to do with this. The David Remnick article is good.

What’s frightening me now, is the political database being built by the Kochs.

  4. Well, it’s good that Cain is heeding the admonishments of scripture..’You have not because you ask not” How’s a guy supposed to get a little extra martial sugar if he don’t ask for it? Herman knows that those honeys just aren’t gonna fall into his love nest without a little godly propmting so he’s standing on the word of the Lord to supply his his every need.

Cain is turning out to be the Ted Bundy of sexual harassers. He’s leaving bodies all over the place.

  5. No honest man is going to pay a dime in settlement to knock down a false accusation. When Herman Cain signed over a $35,000. dollar check he also implicitly signed an admission of guilt that he did in fact sexually harass the women who made the claim.

Cain can cry the victim and and swear to heaven the accusations are baseless, but he paid big money to own the guilt of his actions. Is he so arrogant that he thinks money can dismiss his behavior? Or is he so stupid he thinks the public can’t discern his flawed character. Herman wants his meat….and he’ll lie and cheat to get it..Bad bad Herman !

  6. As a woman who knows sexual harrassment on a first name basis, I would say that if Cain sexually harrassed one woman, he probably sexually harrassed 100 women.

  7. Stella and Bonnie – There are millions of us women out here who have personally experienced sexual harassment – groping, foul language, rubbing – you name it. I did as a 20-year old. I didn’t report it because, at the time, repeating what had been said to my by my assailant would have been too embarrassing. Embarrassing? For me? What does that say about how we have been conditioned to believe that we have encouraged the harassment, have done something wrong, have invited it.

Faulting Sharon for having Allred at her side shows how little is understood about what the repercussions are that will follow the woman who comes forward to report the abuse.

  8. Bonnie….On whether he anticipates additional charges of sexual harassment could arise on top of the handful that came to light over the past week, Cain said on Tuesday, “There will probably be others” because there’s “a machine” working to keep “a businessman out of the White House.”

Even Cain thinks there’ll probably be others… And he should know what the probabilities are going to be.

  9. Herman the love monkey…forget the taking time to smell the roses..take the time to score some recreational back… a little extra lovin” never hurt no man. Come to Papa!

Bible says…Greater is he who controls his own sexual desires than he who takes a city…Well, it doesn’t really say that..but close… Actually it says, he who controls his spirit, but if you have a spirit that finds pleasure in sexually harassing women and sexually forcing yourself upon women like Herman Cain does..then the amended scripture fits like a glove.

  10. ‘take the time to score some recreational back… a little extra lovin” never hurt no man”

I’d be willing to wager that when the truth finally comes out, it will be that “Black Walnut” said: “you come up to here, just like my wife”, but it won’t be to his neck, I’m thinking somewhere a little lower perhaps!

  11. My wife says” if there’s 3 women, there are 10″. Yup.

“I doubt anything will derail Cain ” He’s already toast. He IS done– stick a fork in him. Too bad– he’d be MUCH easier to defeat in 2012 than Mittens.
