CNN Poll: No Change in Gender Gap

This just in

The survey indicates women voters back Obama over Romney by 16 points (55%-39%), virtually unchanged from an 18-point advantage among women for the president in CNN polling last month.

The poll was conducted two days after Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Hilary Rosen created a controversy by saying that Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life.”

“That remark may have little long-term effect on women voters,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “By a two-to-one margin, the women surveyed saw President Obama as more in touch with the problems facing American women today.”

We won’t know for sure until some more polls come in, but I will be honestly surprised if there is any significant change in President Obama’s approval ratings among women because of Mrs. Romney’s self-centered hissy fit about how hard she works.

  1. I’m pretty sure that the Gallup Poll may tell a slightly different story.

And I’d bet Rasmussen paints this as a BIG win for ‘St. Ann of the Nannies,’ and the Conservatives.

  2. Anybody who isn’t blind, deaf and dumb can see that Mitt intends to base his campaign on victimhood. The poor little misuderstood, victm of envy who only wants to bestow the blessings of his obvious genius. (and he’modest, too) Jeez Louise, guys. Don’t play the game on Mitt’s terms.

Any and every democrat who steps in front of a mike or camera needs to choose their words with care. EXTREME care a A political pro can observe that President Obama has released his returns. And we are still waiting. That’s enough – now STFU. Mitt is just waiting for snarky remarks about his wealth, and the higher up those remarks come from – the better for Mitt’s victimhood. Pointing out how he’s a two-faced opportunist does not play into class envy. Nasty snark about his wife? You just loaded his cannon to fire a volly of victimhood – all of which takes the debate further from issues.

Let’s not screw the pooch this time. Mitt can’t win without stupidity from the democratic party. (I’m not worried about blogs or blog comments – it’s the ‘official’ spokesperson for the democrats who will drive us into an iceberg.) Just a little discipline. Pleeese, guys.

  3. “Self-centered hissy fit” is a bit harsh, don’t you think? I sincerely believe that Ann Romney really has done her best, as she was taught, all her life. I also believe she has worked really hard as a mother.

It’s just that she’s never held a job from which she could be fired. You can’t be fired from being a mother.

And in that I think she’s actually a good wife to Romney, who has had his gaffe with the pink slips — Romeny, when he thinks of firing, thinks of switching insurance companies. Neither of them has ever gone home in the middle of the day and cuddled their cat and wondered, “what’s going to happen to me and my cat if I can’t get another job and I can’t afford this apartment anymore?” knowing that if worst came to worst, and I had to move in with my unpleasant relatives, I’d have to give up my one friend — that loyal, giving, loving cat.

You know the whole Hillary Rosen flap illustrates perfectly what the media is up to during this and every election season (which is almost always but really ratchets up 8 months out). They perceive that President Obama has a sizable lead amongst women which is only natural given the “government small enough to fit in a vagina” tactic the republicants have taken. Then one relatively obscure bobble head says something slightly off center and all hell breaks loose. If this is how it’s going to be eight months out I think I just may go into hiding, I’ve already had enough, I could not imagine having to be on Obama’s re-election team and having to respond to all this tripe, it’s beneath civil discussion.

  5. Ha, all you bleeding heart liberals who were quick to blame Romney for Seamus having his little mishap while barreling down the New England Thru way at 75 MPH while being strapped to the roof of the Romney mobile were wrong. Ann Romney set the record straight in her interview with Diane Sawyer.. Seamus just over indulged with his Thanksgiving turkey and pumpkin pie — it just didn’t agree with him( probably the cranberries), and it had nothing to do with velocity or being strapped to the roof.. It could’ve happened to any of us.

Good thing that Seamus didn’t get into the Whitman samplers though. That’d be a whole different story.

  6. I woke this morning with the realization that I was beginning to feel the same way uncledad is. I, too, wish I could just go into hiding somewhere until everything is over. But that’s not possible, and I would still obsess with what is going on.

  7. The Romneys will be the “Ken and Barbie” in the race; no pun intended.
There’s no doubt that Ann Romney’s pretty blonde hair will carry the weight of the world.

    This ain’t no Shangri-La.

  8. Yo Uncledad, I did the “Spanish Pipedream” thing about fourteen years ago now. I’ve never missed the television, but the goats got loose last a couple of weeks back and killed our fruit trees, so the peached part will be store bought. It’s still a pretty good deal.

But, there is no getting by the deep divide in our country. I wish there were. We have a lot of hard work to do, but, we can do it.

    Thanks for the music.

  9. If you’re sick of this now, just wait until our cowardly, compliant, and complicit MSM work to swing the Mitt Deluxe Aircraft Carrier into the friendly waters of “The Middle/Independent Ocean.”

Bill Keller, in the NY Times on Sunday, added his take to the blueprint that’s being formed that will tell people that Mitt will swing away from the right-wing extremists, and into the friendly waters of “The Middle Independent Ocean.” And will govern as a moderate.
They have over 6 months to tweak and spin, and bring MITT.2012 to market – and sell him to the idiots who depend on the MSM for their information.

Our MSM, the “Fourth Estate,” is a cancer that’s killing this country as surely as the bladder/brain/lung cancer is killing my beloved father, who’s nearing the end of his journey.

  10. There’s no change because women who WORK know that if you’re wealthy and staying home with the kids, it ain’t that hard. If you’ve got resources, and the Rmoney’s clearly do, it’s a privilege to be able to stay home and raise your kids. The ones that really have it hard are the single moms without the resources that have to work, and somehow find a sitter for the kid, and then come home and raise her kids after putting in 40+ hours at some meaningless, dead end job. Most countries allow for ALL moms to have what Ann Rmoney has, but not the good old US of A, because, you know, we value the family so much.
