Yeah, right away I thought of him in “Victor/Victoria.” I had trouble accepting Dame Julie as a woman impersonating a man impersonating women, but for some reason I found a gay teddy-bear Alex Karras totally believable. I think it’s because he was always so charming and funny, and he was unafraid to play the role.
His last years sounded very difficult. I hope he is at peace.
