Beware of Texas Miracles

Do you remember the “Texas Miracle” that helped (s)elect George W. Bush as president back in 2000? He argued that his education policies as governor had caused a radical turn-around in Texas schools, with higher test scores and lower dropout rates.

And it turned out there was no miracle. The numbers looked good because school districts were falsifying test scores and misreporting dropout rates.

Well, for a while ow the Right has been touting the Texas economic miracle, with Gov. Rick “oops” Perry claiming that job growth in Texas proves his low-tax, low-regulation policies are good for the economy. Turns out that claim falls apart under close scrutiny, also.

  1. Conservative policies and ideas ALWAYS fall apart under closer scrutiny!

It’s too bad that for over the past 30+ years, our MSM (“Fourth Estate)” can’t be bothered to scrutinize, and instead, likes to point fingers, and recite worn-down meme’s as if they’re fresh eclairs from the best French bakery in town, and tasted as good regurgitated, as they did the first time down.

Our “Fourth Estate” makes me want to down a fifth a day.
    Ok – better make that a liter…

  2. I liked the part where it is stated that it has become part of conservative doctrine to say that conservatives are “voting with their feet” and are all moving to Texas. My first thought was, “What a great idea! Move them all to Texas. They get two senators and a bunch of congresspeople. Then the rest of us can get on with governing our country.”
