The Fake Eye Socket Injury and Other Ferguson News

Charles Johnson has been doing a better job than I have of keeping up with what’s going on in Ferguson. Among other things, he documents that an X-ray image being passed off as showing Officer Wilson’s eye socket injury was pulled off the website of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology.  Also, too:

In the video taken by an eyewitness immediately after the shooting, officer Darren Wilson is seen walking calmly around the body with no signs of discomfort or injury, even though by this time he would have been in very serious pain.

Also, no ambulance was called for Wilson, and no first aid was administered by other officers, which seems odd if he had indeed suffered this type of serious injury — or any injury at all.

So unless more evidence is forthcoming, the eye socket injury is bullshit. There is also a totally fabricated rumor that Michael Brown’s friend Dorian Johnson, who was present at the shooting, recanted his testimony. No, he did not.

And much of this nonsense is being generated by Jim Hoft, officially the Dumbest Man on the Internet.

I also learned at Johnson’s place is that one of the outside groups showing up in Ferguson to stir up trouble are the same bunch of anarchist bozos who tried to initiate violence at OWS demonstrations awhile back.

Vicious, stupid, ignorant, and bigoted ratf*ckers, one and all!
And what are ratf*ckers gonna do?
    Nothing, but f*ck rats.
    Ratf*ckers gotta f*ck rats.
    They live to f*ck rats.
That’s why we call them ratf*ckers.

  2. Aaaaaand the racebaiters are debunked in mid-chortle once again. Sad, so very sad, this need to construct elaborate fantasies to prove that they are never wrong.

  3. This vital piece of the case, that the cop was injured, just happened to go unmentioned for an entire week until he could manufacture some injuries. Sure, that sounds legit.

The purpose of all this gorilla dust isn’t to fool people who look at the evidence, but to give the lazy and bigoted an excuse to tune out police violence yet again.

  4. One web site who has been right out there debunking the eye socket rubbish, slamming Him Hoft for originating the fraud, and nailing Ann Coulter for running with it is ‘Little Green Footballs’, a distinctly right-leaning blog whose editor has maintained his integrity and an awareness of the difference between facts and lies.

Holder has committed to an independent investigation. The amateur video of the scene, including the body, did not show the police car, or any car. I think that’s important because The claim by the woman who shot the video was that the victim was walking away when the first shots were fired and perhaps Brown was ‘grazed’ by a bullet before he turned around. That’s when he was shot repeatedly.

Defenders of Wilson say that Brown wasn’t shot in the back – which proves the eyewitnesses (all black) are lying. If I was an investigator, I would be looking at any of the minor wounds carefully to establish if the bullet entered the arm or shoulder from behind. That would give credence to eyewitness reports that Brown was fired on when he was walking away – and would reconcile that all the lethal shots were from the front.

I would find it difficult to convict anyone on eyewitness testimony alone. If physical evidence contradicts the report Brown filed and is consistent with the testimony of Brown’s friends… Wilson would be in trouble if I was a sitting juror.

  5. Lawrence O’Donnell nailed the NYT tonight on its assertion that witness accounts are in conflict. He asked for a chart showing the conflicts, and they don’t have it. The accounts are in general agreement, from what I have heard. I am sure there are differences, but the basic elements I have heard sould alike/similar.

  6. In the latest example of conservative projection, it’s clearly Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and their ilk who are explicitly pushing for a full-on race war.

  7. It seems that the officer who killed Michael Brown did not file a report. Any story he tells now, as far as I am concerned, will be very difficult to believe because he will have had plenty of time to figure out how to file the report to make him look like the victim. So far, the only report made available was filed on August 19, well after the event. And, it does not provide any information.

  8. I remember the RCP from my college days, they were always a presence at virtually any political event. They pushed a strict party line. My friends and I used to call them “born again communists,” because they seemed to view their discovery of communism as an epiphanic, life changing event which directed them down a very narrow road. As I recall, Bob Avakian, the founder used to try to drum up support by billing himself as “the most dangerous man in America.” I don’t think the marketing was very successful, but, maybe it ignited the minds of a few close friends.

I would have guessed that the group had passed into oblivion and reemerged as a weekly bingo and shuffleboard club, but, I was obviously wrong.

  9. Wow! Live Maoists running around loose in the wild! I thought they had all been stuffed and put into museums.

Anyone remember when various splinter factions of the SDS began demanding loyalty oaths to the Vietnamese People’s Liberation Struggle and the Angolan People’s Liberation Struggle and so forth? Like goatherd, I am surprised to see that some living fossils have managed to survive to the present day.
