Roy Unmoored?

Trump Maladministration

Judge Roy Moore is being accused of inappropriate relations with a minor. I’m not surprised in the least. However, the interesting development here is that Mitch McConnell and a bunch of other Republicans are telling Moore to drop out of the race if the allegations are true.

This tells me McConnell et al. really don’t want Moore in the Senate. If they supported him, they’d be blustering about liberal media slandering this upstanding virtuous Christian man blah blah blah.

At this point the Alabama ballot cannot be changed, but Moore could still withdraw or be disqualified by his state party. The guy Moore defeated for the nomination, Luther Strange, could run as a write-in candidate.

Meanwhile, the Democrats have adopted a unique strategy for helping Doug Jones, Moore’s Democratic opponent. Well, not so unique for the Democrats.

With less than a month until Alabama’s special election for U.S. Senate, political experts say national Democrats are deploying a unique strategy to support their nominee, Doug Jones: They are staying away.

“I don’t have a sense at all that the DNC (Democratic National Committee) is anywhere in this state,” said Derryn Moten, chairman of the Department of History and Political Science at Alabama State University. “They don’t want to damage or do anything that might damage Jones’ chance to win that Senate seat,” he said. The party “doesn’t want to do anything that would be an albatross around Jones’ neck.”

That’s so … lame.

Good strategy (for once) for the Dems. Let Jones, an Alabaman, figure out how to proceed in that deep red culture. Jones can reiterate his pledge to “not embarrass the state” without throwing mud.

Anyone who thumps a Bible as loudly as Moore— you know they have serious skeletons. I wonder if he was ever a scoutmaster? Maybe WaPo can inquire.

I wonder if he was ever a scoutmaster?

Or a coach like Hastert…OK, boys into the showers and make sure to soap up. I'm gonna be watchin' to make sure you get into all those special places..

And we thought that Luther was strange? …nothing near as strange as the bible toten' scripture quotin' Moore.

The only party capable of screwing up the opportunities of unforced errors by republicans.. is the democrats.

Regarding Moore, he's like many other overly "Holy Rollers:"

He's trying to compensate for some prior deviant behavior by laying on layer after layer after layer of Jesus paint!

To make me even happier than merely having this hypocrite exposed,  I hope that with all of the news about men sexually abusing women recently, he spent the last few weeks quaking and shaking in his boxers (the one with little crosses on them) so much, that he left yellow and brown stains that even chlorine can't eliminate.

But, of course, the Theocratic Evangelicals will say first, that this is all a Libtard plot to take a good Christian down; and second, that even if it IS true, he prayed for forgiveness, and he said Jesus forgave him, so who are they to punish him by not voting for him, when Jesus didn't!

Judge Moore is a CHILD molester …TWICE!

Well …if he wins …he will be in "good" company.

Self confessed pussy grabber Dotard 45 and this dude … Republicans….is THAT the best you can offer the American citizens you claim to so dearly love?????????

Biden has been to Alabama a couple times and raised money for Jones as has John Lewis.  Just because the national party is keeping it low, doesn’t mean Democrats aren’t helping him. Per Politico a few months ago:

“Jones is looking more closely at the model of Archie Parnell, the little-noticed South Carolina Democrat who came surprisingly close to winning a congressional seat in June by organizing heavily but flying under the GOP radar.”

Joe Trippi is his campaign manager and he’s got the support of Democratic aligned PACs.  We could choose to see this as another of the many “Democrats are weak” stories or maybe we could see it as the Jones campaign running the campaign how it sees best for Alabama.

"That’s so … lame." No it's not — not in Alabama. Tom_b is right. The reason the DNC is staying away is because the Alabama Dems want to handle this themselves.

  9. Swami  •  Nov 10, 2017 @3:24 am

Maybe the Dem's in Alabama realize that the battle lines are already drawn and the numbers won't change no matter what they do. Moore's base of  rabid supporters aren't going to abandon him even if he is a child molester.  To them being a pedophile is not reason enough to stop supporting a true man of God who is determined to drive the sodomites back into the shadows of society, protect the unborn, and defend God's holy word.

The reality of it is that there are nutjobs out there who are able to justify Moore's behavior as being in sync with scriptural precedent (mythology). Reason or common decency isn't going to penetrate that type of a mindset. So in all probability the needle will fluctuate very little,if at all.

Moore is in a position where he has to remain silent because if he so much as acknowledges even knowing these accusers he's convicted himself in the court of public opinion of being a pedophile. What interest does a 34 year old college graduate with a law degree have with a 14 year old child. He certainly wasn't seeking intellectual stimulation. So old Roy has no option except to flee. Which gives credence to the old adage..Speak the truth and the devil shall flee.

The cat's got Roy's tongue? devil

I'd like to take this opportunity to give myself a pat on the back for that line. It kinda has a Fractured Fairytales ring to it. I can kinda hear Edgar Everett Horton's voice speaking those very words.

Pray for brother Moore as he is buffeted by the tempter.

    So who needs the DNC?

  12. csm  •  Nov 10, 2017 @2:22 pm

The democrats strategy in AL is old hat for them: let's keep a low profile, stay quiet and meek, and maybe no one will notice us.  And if you have to talk policy just mimic the republican.  Then (somehow) the voters will see us as the "adults in the room" and we'll win.  No matter how many times that hasn't worked for them, they still think its the path to victory.

The democrats have yet to learn that what Harry Truman said decades ago remains true:  "Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time"

Democrats still have not learned a basic lesson: no matter how bad your opponent is, you still need to give the voters a reason to vote for you.

CSM kudos.  Let all true veterans note, any veterans day you can walk (or stumble) away from is a good one.  I think I have been gifted one more.

  14. Swami  •  Nov 11, 2017 @3:03 am

Happy Veteran's Day all you old war dogs. Those were the days.

Here's some graffiti that I saw written on the walls in an NCO club bathroom, way back when, that expressed the love we shared for one another with our branch rivalries

U.S. Marines are the bell hops for the Navy. And some Marine ( I assume) wrote underneath that: The only belle I ever hopped was your mother.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty clever retort. Happy Veterans Day!

Ten to one the bastard gets elected. From a craven political point of view, that might be good for democrats in 2018 as republicans are forced to do the splits embracing Moore for his votes and pretending they never met him in Congress.

I'm thinking about asking my daughter's HS principal if they have a policy: if a government employee – middle aged speaks to a class and wants to hit on the students (make or female) is there a cut-off age where the school would discourage the romance?

What if there was money for the school involved?

  17. bernie  •  Nov 12, 2017 @8:45 am

Well it seems his reputation was well known.  Moore needs to be cast in bronze and his statue erected on the public square as hypocrisy personified.  I suggest an abstract design that captures the essence of a giant dick.

"In a court room, in a court house
    Ten commandments by the door
    Was a minor sixty-niner
By the name of Judge Roy Moore
Oh yer honor, oh yer honor
    Oh yer honor, Roy Moore
    Tho she's dressed it's still molest'n
    Dreadful sorry, Judge Roy Moore."

  19. Tom_b  •  Nov 13, 2017 @5:12 pm

Well, I guess so far he hasn’t coveted his neighbor’s wife yet. Just her kids.  That wasn’t in the 10 Commandments…. I guess it’s not “adultery”, either, since they weren’t adults. But, what do I know? I’m not an Evangelical.

  20. Swami  •  Nov 13, 2017 @8:53 pm

Another accuser just showed up..Kinda makes the old chicken hawk out to be a prophet because he prophesied that other accusers would appear. Lo and behold it came to pass.

Moore is going to have a hard time distancing himself from the latest victim. He left his signature and date at the scene of the crime with a salutation of "love" ( agape, I'm sure). heart

"Ye though I walk through the valley of the shadow of political death I will fear no evil, for Donald Trump's playbook  of threatening lawsuits against my accusers comforts me."
