Now Putin and Trump Are Coordinating Antisemitic Slurs

Trump Maladministration

Yesterday Trump lobbed a weird insult at Chuck Todd. Referring to Meet the Press, he said,

“A show now headed by ‘Sleepy eyes Chuck Todd,’” Trump said Saturday. “He’s a sleeping son of a bitch.”

Trump first used the moniker in April of 2017 when questioning why Todd and NBC News were not covering his claim that the Obama administration illegally spied on his campaign. Trump has a longstanding feud with NBC News and Todd, whom he considers to be biased against his administration.

“When will Sleepy Eyes Chuck Todd and @NBCNews start talking about the Obama SURVEILLANCE SCANDAL and stop with the Fake Trump/Russia story?” Trump tweeted last year.

I had never noticed Todd looking particularly sleepy, so I wondered what this was about. But my friend Jeffrey Feldman explained it.

The “sleepy eyes” thing is an antisemitic dog whistle, in other words. The interesting thing is that yesterday,  in another interview with Megyn Kelly, Vladimir Putin blamed 2016 interference on Jews.

Putin suggested those responsible for the meddling could be Ukrainian or Jewish people with Russian citizenship, or Americans who funded the interference.

“Maybe they’re not even Russians,” he told Kelly.

“Maybe they’re Ukrainians, Tatars, Jews, just with Russian citizenship. Even that needs to be checked,” he added. “Maybe they have dual citizenship. Or maybe a green card. Maybe it was the Americans who paid them for this work. How do you know? I don’t know.”

Both slurs took place on the same day. One might think it was a coordinated effort.

There are calls for Trump to denounce what Putin said, although (except for Jeffrey Feldman) I’m not hearing much about what Trump said.

I have noticed before, that Putin comments on U.S. and Trumpmachine picks it up and parrots, and yes Trump himself. I did not see MTP this am but will  look at it now that I see this.

I'm following through with a promise I made to myself months ago. If I use the word "President"  about 45 – it's President Bone Spurs. As a vet, I mock Trump as a military wannabe draft dodger.

I push out in public view the indictments and guilty pleas of "the best people". I push out the spending scandals of the not-yet-indicted cabinet members, flying and furniture. Trump's vacation habits and how much it costs – how much of that money winds up in Trump's pocket when an entourage of literally hundreds of people, security and staff, go to Trump properties.

On social media, I mock the liar-in-chief , his vocabulary, and his lack of moral character. I think Stormy Daniels is a story with legs (and great hooters)  Who else has been paid off?

Those who complain I'm not showing due respect to a sitting president set themselves up for a simple response. Where was Trump's respect for a sitting president when he was the main source of birther conspiracy rumors? Trump pre-launched his candidacy on dog-whistle racist attacks on the legitimacy of a sitting president. Screw U.

Trump University is a classic Trump scam. What's hidden in his tax returns? This stuff is all real – all valid, especially compared to the birther conspiracy theories. I won't let up.

I never knew that about the phrase "sleepy eyes".  and, one "parroting" the other is just another form of collusion.

I'd have gained a lot of respect for him, if Upchuck Toad had begun this edition of MTP by saying, "We begin today's 'pogrom' with comments by President tRUMP and Vladimir Putin…"

But sadly, he lacks the wit and the courage.

Any idea that sleepy eyes is a semitic facial feature is ridiculous, the kind of thing that you might hear on an elementary school playground. You gotta be young or dumb to believe such a thing.

Where your friend offers an explanation on the web page is blank in my browsers. And a web search leads to sites I am not going to click on.

But Ben Carson certainly has sleepy eyes. Nuff said. 😉

Billikin — It’s a PDF document. Do you not have Acrobat Reader installed? Never mind; here’s the page in question. antisemitic

    Thanks, Maha.

"Lizard-like, Asiatic eyes"?! Right. And the Hawaiians are one of the lost tribes of Israel. 😉

Billikin — nobody is saying the bigots are right. This is just saying that “sleepy eyes” really is an antisemitic slur.

I've been doing some Internet surfing to find evidence that "sleepy-eyed" is an anti-Semitic slur, and I found that at least one neo-Nazi site heard the dog whistle. Here is the link to Problanc (if you can stomach going there), a white nationalist version of Youtube, where they connect the slur to Jews.
