The Slogan “Show Me State” Takes on New Meaning

Yesterday the Missouri House released a 400-page report about the 2015 “affair” between not-yet Governor Eric Greitens and his hairdresser, which includes the woman’s testimony. You can read the highlights here. Executive summary: Greitens is a predator, an abuser and a creep. See also “House report stings like the slap it says Eric Greitens delivered to his lover.”

First, let me say that the nation owes this woman and her estranged husband, who persisted in calling media attention to the incident, a debt of gratitude. I understand the Republican Party had its eye on Greitens for greater things, maybe even a presidential run someday. Now even the Republican-dominated Missouri House is calling for him to resign. We’re all dodging a bullet with this guy.

Claire McCaskill is running television ads reminding voters that her probable general election opponent, Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley, initially supported Greitens when the first accusations came out. But now even Hawley is calling for Greitens to resign, so McCaskill may not get much mileage with that.

Greitens claims to be the victim of a “political witch hunt” and is continuing to push his agenda, which includes right-to-work laws, stripping state employees of worker protections and defunding higher ed. The usual Republican stuff.

  1. He's sure it will go away if he denies. Who are you gonna believe – he's a hero and macho male. If you do believe, you should secretly envy him and the victim. (Don't you just wish you could have been him or her – depending on gender?)

  2. Get rid of worker protections so the asshole can put more assholes in place. Sounds lovely.

I'm not convinced. I agree the guys a real scum-bag but is he worse than Trump? The deplorables know Trump is an adulterer, a sexual assaulter, a man who has unprotected sex with a pornstar while his 3rd (mail-order) wife sits at home with a newborn, a liar, a phony, a bullshit artist………you get the point. It seems to me that nothing is too bizarre or craven to turn off the modern GOP voter. And I think Greitens thinks that as well, he's says he's not stepping down, he thinks he has a future, and unfortunately I tend to agree with him?

By the way thanks for the kind words mahabloggers, I guess if everyone else is getting twit filtered I should too?

    • “Unfortunately I think Grietens still has a bright future, he says he won’t resign so maybe he thinks so too?” The significant thing, I think, is that Republicans in the state legislature are pushing him to resign and talking about impeachment. They might not actually impeach him, but my impression is that a lot of the pooh-bahs in the state Republican Party really don’t like him and would be happy to be rid of him.

  5. It could be worse.  It took Kansas six to seven years to find out they elected a total moron.  This guy is from what my Mo. people say is pure third world corrupt. Might take a little rock bottom to give a bounce. We are all in this mess together.

  6. And no matter what immoral and/or amoral thing is discovered about a Republican pol, the UBER-ULTRA "MORAL MAJORITY" 'CHRISTIAN' DOMINIONIST AND AUTHORITARIAN EVANGELICAL FOLLOWERS will not only CONTINUE to support him/her, but defend him/her with amazingly contradictory and convoluted  excuses!!!

    If you're white, you're al(l)-RIGHT!

If you ain't, you ain't no saint.

Fact is, you gottua bad taint!

Yeah, the Republicans really are the party of "Family VALUES!"

    Yeeeeeeeeesbh…

  7. the spam filter just plain doesn’t like you. I don’t know why.

Maybe I should change me handle?

  8. Maybe the spam filter has face recognition and when Uncledad posts, it sees the photo of Chris Christie and …

  9. Thanks gulag! Goat maybe your onto something, nobody not even Trump likes Chris Christy! I was amusing to see tRump try to act serious last night, announcing a "Sustained attack" on Syria, only to have his defense secretary (the only person in his administration anyone trusts) come out an hour later and say this was a one and done event! SAD!

  10. Stay tuned people! Upcoming episodes are going to be featuring the search for Dotard's love child. When I first heard about Steel dossier report of Michael Cohen connecting with Russian agents in Prague I kinda winched thinking that it's a shame that such a big mistake would ruin the accuracy of the report. Now it's been confirmed by the Mueller investigation that Cohen did in fact visit Prague as reported in the dossier.

It seems like it's just a matter of time before the expression, your sins will find you out ,proves to be true in regards to Dotard having a love child. The question is: Who pays 30,000. dollars to quash a rumor that could only provide ammunition to Trump in propagating his fake news narrative? I don't know when the true facts are going to surface, but I'm convinced the love child scenario is going to be proven true. It fits so nicely into this circus narrative.
