New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood got the Trump Foundation to agree to dissolve itself as of immediately. I doubt it had a choice.

New York Times:

The attorney general, Barbara Underwood, accused the foundation of “a shocking pattern of illegality” that was “willful and repeated” and included unlawfully coordinating with Mr. Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

“This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests,” Ms. Underwood said.

The closure of the foundation is a milestone in the investigation. But the broader lawsuit, which also seeks millions in restitution and penalties and a bar on President Trump and his three oldest children from serving on the boards of other New York charities, is proceeding.

From the Attorney General’s statement:

“Our petition detailed a shocking pattern of illegality involving the Trump Foundation – including unlawful coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing, and much more. This amounted to the Trump Foundation functioning as little more than a checkbook to serve Mr. Trump’s business and political interests.

“Today’s stipulation accomplishes a key piece of the relief sought in our lawsuit earlier this year. Under the terms, the Trump Foundation can only dissolve under judicial supervision – and it can only distribute its remaining charitable assets to reputable organizations approved by my office.

“This is an important victory for the rule of law, making clear that there is one set of rules for everyone. We’ll continue to move our suit forward to ensure that the Trump Foundation and its directors are held to account for their clear and repeated violations of state and federal law.”

Here’s the dissolution order. Whatever money was in the Foundation as of this morning is lost to the Trumps.  This may account for why Trump was having a major tweet tantrum this morning.  The White House is also making noises about backing down on the border wall. This comes after three days of relentless ridicule of Stephen Miller’s hair.

Meanwhile, the Michael Flynn sentence hearing is still going on. It doesn’t appear to be going well for Flynn.

  1. If NY authorities had done their job properly and investigated this criminal garbage family years ago we might not be stuck with him in the WH

  2. It does my heart good to see another of Trump's frauds brought to an end. Just a few dozen more to go…Trump University -check, Trump Foundation -check…I'm looking forward to his getting bounced out of the Oval office, thus bringing an end to his biggest fraud of all !

What I find ironic in all this is that Melania's plagiarized speech claimed she believed in the value of her father that a man's word is his bond, and yet she's married to the most deceptive swindler and lying cheat north of the equator and east of the Mississippi. I pray that misery and misfortune seeks Trump out and over takes him.

and it's looking like my prayer is being answered. Bible says…nothing profits a man like a good reputation…wink

I agree, though I hope this is not the end, I really want to see the Former Florida AG (Bondi) do the perp walk for putting the kibosh on the Trump Univ. fraud in Florida, remember she took a $25,000 donation from Trumps "Charity" just before she decided to end the investigation without any legal action. I say Lock her up as well!

  4. uncledad…It's not the end. It's more like the beginning of the end. The NYS Attorney General has made criminal referrals of the Trump Foundation to the IRS, NYS Division of Taxation and Finance, and the Federal Election Commission. Given the notoriety of the issue I'm pretty sure the outcome of those investigations won't get lost in the shuffle and come to naught.

Trump has already folded by agreeing to dissolve his foundation, probably in the hopes of thinking it will all go away if he just shuts it down. The AG doesn't share the same view. Trump and his criminal progeny has used the foundation as a personal piggy bank and tax dodge and now they're going to have to answer for their criminality. The sweet thing about it is that he's not in a position to employ his usual tactics of running down his adversary by imposing a financial obstacle of litigation costs in a civil matter. His mask has been ripped off and now he's going to have to answer. It's a criminal matter.

Aside from that, he's got too many things coming at him at the same time. The mighty and formidable Trump is going to collapse like the big bag of shit that he is

In the spirit of John Paul Jones, Michael Cohen says…"I have not yet begun to squeal"

  5. Swami:  I have felt sorry for Melania in the past but have come to realize that she is not so innocent.  Other than the fact she has to put up with Trump she has a very good life.  I'm sure she signed a pre-nup so cannot just walk away from the marriage.  Also, there is her son, she doesn't want to lose him to the influence of Trump.   Eventually, the marriage will end.  Melania will move on, get a new life and write a book.  She will make a lot of  money.  I just hope she will be able to keep a relationship with her son, that he has not been poisoned like Trump's other kids.  Anyway, that is my armchair prediction.

  6. Maybe the NYSAG should donate the remaining balance of the liquidated Trump Foundation's money to the United Negro College Fund. I'm sure that if Trump had a say in where the money was to be disbursed that's the closest organization to his heart. Everybody knows that when it comes to the advancement of people of color that Trump has shown himself to be a true champion to the cause.

  9. grannyeagle  ..Initially I felt sorry for Melania, but she has shown herself to be a shill for her husband. To me she's just a garbage pail like her husband. After she pulled her I don't care, do you? stunt and made it known that she was just trolling the press to garner more exposure for herself as a fashion model and beauty queen it became clear that there is nothing sacred in her system of values that would prevent her from seeking the spotlight of recognition.. She a true complement to her sick and twisted better half. Ilse Koch reincarnated?

She's a venomous hag who hides behind a disarming exterior. Bible says, even Satan can appear as an angel of light.

The Clinton Foundation is a reputable organization that could use the money.
