I Wish I’d Seen This Sooner

Juan Cole:

The Bush administration repeatedly made the presence in Iraq of Abu Musab Zarqawi a pretext for invading the country and overthrowing Saddam Hussein. They implied that he was a client of Saddam and that Saddam had arranged for hospital care for him.

Newly released documents from the captured Iraqi archives show that Saddam had put out an APB for Zarqawi and was trying to have him arrested as a danger to the Baath regime!

And, as I said, we already knew Zarqawi was in Iraq. But he was in a part of Iraq protected from Saddam Hussein’s control.

  1. Just another entry in the long list of lies that we were told to bolster support for this disaster. I believe it was David Kay who said “we were almost completely wrong” in reference to the lack of WMD’s. It seems they were almost completely wrong about everything. Still not one high ranking official has been held to account. Hell some of them have been promoted, Condeleza Lies, Wolfie, etc. Shame on all of us.

  2. Lawsuit, lawsuit, lawsuit, that’s what these war planners need. Every time I think about this war, I bleed for the mothers and fathers whose future was stolen from them. The building and overwhelming evidence insists that someone pay.

  3. Uncledad, no one will pay. In fact, Republicans may even win more. Did Republicans pay for wasting taxpayer money with non-stop investigations of a popular president — Clinton — and then call for impeachment when the majority of Americans opposed such an action? No. What happend soon afterwards? They gained control of everything. I don’t get it. Conservatives are consistently on the wrong side of just about every issue — except national security — yet they gain more and more control. I’m beginning to wonder if 9/11 wasn’t part of their plan to usurp control of this nation. And I staunchly don’t believe in consipiracy theories. But, I’m beginning to wonder.
