Announcements

Light blogging today — my baby boy graduates college. I’ll check back with y’all this evening. (With my luck, today will be Fitzmas. Well, I won’t mind.)

The Big Event today is the Connecticut Democratic party convention, which we hope will put Ned Lamont on the primary ballot. See also Kos.

  1. Mazel tov! It’s amazing how much more money is in the bank account when the younglings are out of college. (According to my mother.)

  2. Congratulations. My baby still has two more years to go. Of course her older sister moved back in with us after we finished spending $100K on her education and two years later still does not have a real job. Part of it is the economy, particularly for bright people who get the dreaded liberal arts education, but I do not sense that urgency for independence which I recall-perhaps erroneously-when I was that age. Anyway enjoy the day. I think raising and educating a child is a major accomplishment in this day and age.

  3. Congratulations, Maha! What a wonderful day. My young ‘uns are still far away from starting university (college is something different up here), but I still remember going to my husband’s convocation when he received his Master’s degree. It was a proud moment for both of us!

  4. Lucky! I still have two in college. My son will graduate in December (hopefully). He should be graduating now, but it seems that of all his friends, only the girls are graduating on schedule.

  5. Congratulations to you and your son! It’s a happy day and then there is the celebration.

Technocrazygirl, it, outward flow of money for child, hoepfully ends. However, if they get an internship after college – which is not paid – it continues.

My daughter got an internship in Bunos Aires, Argentina at the U.S. Embassy. It was an unpaid internship – as our most. It was for six-months. That meant roundtrip airfare, housing, meals, entertainment – basically just like college. We were thrilled that she got the internship because there was stiff competition. She was there with other interns from the top Ivy League schools like Harvard.

  6. Congrats to both son and proud mother!!!Write to mrs bush sr and give her some tips on how to raise decent , educated child that grows into a fine young adult that will better the future for the world… start by telling her how much more proud you are of your son because he earned a degree rather then had one bought for him.

Your son is lucky to have a Mom like you Maha.It takes a great parent to raise great kids..take a pat on the back , you did good!!!Bravo Maha and Son!!!!!!I was hoping for fitzmas today,, but this news is nicer….hope for the future is much nicer then watching a human being hit rock bottom(even if the human is a turd blossom)… thanks for setting my mind straight!
