Imperium Rovanum

You’ll appreciate this editorial in the Sunday New York Times:

Turn over a scandal in Washington these days and the chances are you’ll find Karl Rove. His tracks are everywhere: whether it’s helping to purge United States attorneys, coaching bureaucrats on how to spend taxpayers’ money to promote Republican candidates, hijacking the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for partisan politics, or helping to organize a hit on the character of one of the first people to publicly reveal the twisting of intelligence reports on Iraq.

Whatever the immediate objective, Mr. Rove seems focused on one overarching goal: creating a permanent Republican majority, even if that means politicizing every aspect of the White House and subverting the governmental functions of the executive branch.

You’ll want to read the whole thing.

  1. Yep to the editorial, yep to Spiiderweb’s comment. I would add that a whole lot of Republican congresspersons allowed this rovian prostitution of our government, compromising themselves and their better intentions as they learned the lock-step and the use of rubber stamps.

Prediction: the righties will loudly meme their old song about this editorial being ‘sheer partisan’ from ‘rove haters’, or ‘bush haters’……..as usual, righties will bypass the point of how the government has been hijacked.

Remember when Bush announced that Karl Rove was put in charge of Katrina response??!!

  2. Rovestitution, cross between rove and prostitution. The group that has rove at the lead are those who would destroy the US as we have known it. Gone are the liberties millions have died for. Gone are the balances sought by our founders. All gone to support this rovian idea of dictatorship. I wonder now if they intend to give up power at all. It’s a small step from slanting elections to ordering the military out to round up the “enemy” who reads these blogs. Posse comitatus seems to be gone though nobody raised much of a stink about it. Habeus corpus, same thing. All they have to do now is drop a couple nukes on Iran, start a draft, and order us all to get behind the deciderer or get locked up. Scary times.
