The Dada President

So this morning I wake up and check the news, and I see that today The Creature is ranting that Germany is “captive to Russia.”

“Germany, as far as I’m concerned, is captive to Russia because it’s getting so much of its energy from Russia,” Trump told NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in a fiery on-camera exchange that was among the harshest in the history of the post-World War II alliance.

“We have to talk about the billions and billions of dollars that’s being paid to the country we’re supposed to be protecting you against,” Trump said, referring to European purchases of Russian natural gas.

This is the same guy who is planning a one-on-one meeting with Vladimir Putin with only translators present. This is the same guy who, just a few days ago, delivered a signature unhinged rally speech that in which he pounded allies, Democrats and some Republicans with demented hate speech and then declared that Putin is just a regular guy. “He’s fine. We’re all fine. We’re people.”

(See Jonathan Chait, “Trump Is Training His Base to Hate NATO and Like Putin.”)

There are reasons to be concerned about the Russian-German pipeline, which has been in the works for several years. (See “The Russian pipeline to Germany that Trump is so mad about, explained.”) There are means of addressing those concerns that rise above the level of playground insults, however.

  1. Germany has a goal to bring fossil fuel free.the us does not.

Everything trump accuses anyone of something,  he is projecting his own sins. This bullying chin jutting performance was just th:performance. We all knew he would act out at Nato. He won't let us see how he acts with Putin. It is no longer a question of what does Putin have on him. The house is on fire and it is time to act.

Kavanaugh odsequeciously sucked up to himmonday. We can expect more of same if he is confirmed. Look at Doj putting an inept xocksuker in charge of prosecutions (senate voted to let him go to vote).  He will enable trump to shut down mueller. Trump is taking over judicial, he has legislative branch mute and dhs is detaining people with no oversight. We are being led straight to dictatorship.

  2. Dada was an art form invented by visionary artists expressing a range of ideas from the virtues of nonsense to mysticism. It presaged performance art as we know it, and conceptual art.  It was wholesome and had a lasting and positive effect on the art that followed. No such thing could be said about the president or his behavior.

Much of what Trump is trying to say has been said by past administrations, the EU countries need to contribute more into NATO, particularly Germany since their economy is so large. Trump's problem is just like every other issue he has the dumb-fuck at the end of the bar approach, he's a fucking moron and an embarrassment what else can be said?

  4. uncledad,

He's also a tragic waste of Oxygen, Hydrogen, Carbon, Sodium, and all of the other  known element's that might have helped in some way, a far more deserving person — or worm, or tree, or whatever!

  5. A number of commentators outside the US are suggesting that Trump seems to regard NATO as a protection racket rather than a military alliance.

  6. A Talking Points Memo I had to look up "codel". It means congressional delegation. It also means controlled delay. That seems appropriate, doesn't it? 😉
