I’m listening to Governor-Elect Eliot Spitzer give his acceptance speech, and CNN reports that so far tonight the Dems have taken 16 House seats away from the Republicans. We’ve got the House.

Oops, I almost forgot the dancing banana –

As of 11:30 pm the Dems have picked up 19 House seats, 18 of which were taken from Republicans and one from an Independent.

Just before midnight CNN says Webb is 3,000 votes over Allen. The Virginia state official vote count still has Allen ahead. There will be a recount, people here say.

They’re kicking us out of the Sheraton, so I’ll be shutting down. I think we’ll be 4, maybe 5 seats up in the Senate and probably about 25 in the House when it’s done.

“Cheney to hunt on Election Day”

After being vice president of the united states for 6 years, and faced with an embarrassing defeat, what would be the logical reaction? Let’s go hunting, let’s take the day off. What is today election day? Really? I think I’m going to take the day off and go hunting. What could happen? Last time I went hunting everything worked out just fine! And by the way if we lose the house, just make sure that we never declare Election Day a federal fuckin holiday. Those lazy voters already have too much time off. Now leave me alone.

Methinks that Chris Matthews is a little perturbed with Keith Olbermann. Seems McCaskill and Webb are not following protocol by waiting for their opponents to concede defeat before claiming victory and that seems to be bothering the pudgy man. Or it could be that he is just tired.

Oh – Talent just conceded. It’s now R-49 D-47 I-2 – so basically a tie. Two more to go. It will suck if it ends up a tie – just one more thing to make the Dickster feel more full of himself.
