  1. Oh, it’s LENIN’S!

And here I thought they were using Mao’s ‘Little Redstate Book.’

As for Mitt, I read an article where some independents voted for him in NH because they felt he would eventually 180 degree back to them, after 180 degree-ing away from them.

    And they are stupid.
Because if he becomes President, Mitt will double-down on the crazy, to prove his Conservative bona fides. And he’ll have to really ratchet-up the lunacy if he hopes to get reelected.
To paraphrase the great Steve M, “The worst Republican President in history, is the next Republican President.”

  2. ‘Wen Budget Cuts Cost Us Money’ links to an article about how cuts to the IRS will reduce revenue because tax cheats will get away with it. On average, a dollar spent by the IRS nets $10 in collections. And conservatives cut the IRS budget by $300 million. Do the math. Which gave me an idea, if you will allow me to digress slightly.

In a very early chapter of American history, in the Revolutionary War, our fledgeling government authorized ‘privateers’ – which is a nice word for pirates. Our government allowed (encouraged) private individuals and companies to build and equip pirate ships which could ‘legally’ go after British merchant vessels – and keep the loot. (Mitt would have loved it.) It created havoc because British companies wanted a military escort for every ship that might be in reach of the colonies, and the British Empire needed every ship for the war.

To return to the topic of the IRS – why not go along with the drive to reduce the size of government and privatize government by outsourcing the IRS entirely. Former IRS agents would finally have a shot at big money, just like Mitt. Firms would be allowed to ‘bid’ on accounts to audit and split the take 50/50. Conservatives and especially libertarians would LOVE the idea, as well as the former bureaucrats who could now take part in the free enterprise system.

A serious proposal along these lines from democrats, would get 300 million reinserted into the budget faster than you could say ‘IRS audit.’
