  1. NICE AD!
    AND FAST!

    Hmm…
    It’s almost like they knew.

I’m starting to wonder if Romney wasn’t some plant that Teddy Kennedy foisted on the Republicans back in the 80’s, knowing that Mitt’s money, and lack of anything resembling integrity and /orcharacter, might lead him to be a Presidential candidate for the Republicans somewhere down the line?

Is Romney a “Mittchurian Candidate” for the Democrats?

He was such a weak candidate, the Republican Party had to come in, and bail him out with the base, by making “Privatizing” Ryan his Dick Cheney.

Mitt gets to keep his magic underpants, but “Privatizing” Ryan’s the one wearing the pants in this little political family.

The Republicans had better hope that Governor Scott down in Florida can also suppress the elderly voters, along with the brown, young, and female ones – or else President Obama is a mortal lock in the Electoral College!!!

  2. Also too: Mitt Romney is just another potential Republican President whose VP will be running things.

After Ike took on a nebish like Dick, and Dick a mentally and integrity challenged VP like Spiro, Reagan had George H.W. Bush as the man behind the curtain, and his son had ‘Dastardly Dick, The Even Bigger Dick than Nixon,’ as the hand up the puppet’s ass.

Only “Poppy” Bush, since Nixon, took another nebish on as his VP. Dan Quale was his insurance policy.

Reagan, W, and now Mitt, are their VP’s insurance policy. No self-respecting Liberal would ever wish the President ill, since the 2nd in line is far, far, worse.

  3. What I love about this ad is the moment where it says that all the budget cuts are to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy, and it’s showing Ryan smiling like the cat that ate the canary.

  4. Remember, maha – we have to sacrifice the old canaries, so the younger ones can suffer more!

Soon, every part of America will be a coal mine.
And all of the canaries, dropping like flies.

Kind of warms the cockles of your heart, if you and ice-cold cockles in your heart, no?

  5. This is like Christmas in August. Check out the NYT’s blistering Sunday editorial over Mitt’s pick:

…Mr. Ryan’s budget “will hurt hungry children, poor families, vulnerable seniors and workers who cannot find employment,” the bishops wrote in an April letter to the House. “These cuts are unjustified and wrong.”

Mr. Ryan responded that he was helping the poor by eliminating their dependence on the government. And yet he has failed to explain how he would make them self-sufficient — how, in fact, a radical transformation of government would magically turn around an economy that is starving for assistance. At a time when state and local government layoffs are the principal factor in unemployment, the Ryan budget would cut aid to desperate governments by at least 20 percent, far below historical levels, on top of other cuts to mass transit and highway spending.

…All of this will be accompanied, of course, by even greater tax giveaways to the rich, and extravagant benefits to powerful military contractors. Business leaders will be granted their wish for severely diminished watchdogs over the environment, mine safety and food quality….

  6. I no longer have the strength of spirit or quality of so-called mental health that allow me to own a TV or even listen to political rhetoric–via popular media–on NPR. But, somehow, I can come here and feel REAL, at least for a brief time, by experiencing that nameless connection of understanding, heart to heart, with many of those who comment here regularly. “God” bless this little (blog)site of humanity for giving me such a rare gift: the chance to laugh out loud (for real) with a lived sense of solidarity, a momentary experience–now and then–when the soul-consuming isolation and alienation fall away. Thank you.

  7. Romney/Ryan – “The Scream Team.”

One wants to close down where you work and get rid of your pension, and the other one wants to privatize your Social Security and Medicare.

    SCREAM!
    THEN VOTE!!!

  8. Here is the #1 reader pick comment today on the NYT editorial re: Ryan selection as VP nominee:

    NancyNew York NY
    Recipe for the Romney-Ryan campaign:

Take Catholicism – throw out all concerns for the poor, and double the misogyny
Take Mormonism and double the homophobia. Add an extra helping of nuts.
Take the philosophy of Ayn Rand but throw out the atheism and double the hatred of government.
Cut programs for the poor and the sick – make your own best guess by how much
    Throw out financial regulations.
Add tax cuts for the wealthy
    Add two Koch brothers

I don’t know Nancy, but I think she might be a Maha reader!

  9. “Bake until the United States is a shell of its former self. Serves 1%.”

Hammer, meet head of nail, square on.

  10. The Esquire article is Pierce’s usual: fan-damn-tastic! It would be so nice for him to have a happy topic to write about! Of course, if his article gets wide circulation, that’ll be happy to me!
