Woosh!

Posted on December 4, 2007 by maha

Yesterday’s Iran-NIE bombshell not only has deflated White House bluster on Iran, it has thrown political campaigns into disarray. Some Republicans in particular (but not exclusively) were planning on running a let’s be afraid of Iran campaign. Well, what else have they got to run on?

Josh Marshall and Dan Froomkin have more.

Mike Gravel ad: Power to the People

Posted on December 4, 2007 by abacakov

Some are calling it the best political ad ever (they probably never saw the “Daisy” ad). While I think it hits some high notes, it is weird to see my favorite cranky old man – Mike Gravel, hammering the words out – while surrounded by images and music inspired by the 1960s. (Is that how I look to the young people around me?). Enjoy.

The Circle of the Way: A Concise History of Zen from the Buddha to the Modern World

Buy the Book"Barbara O’Brien’s wide-ranging account of Zen history is conveyed with a master storyteller’s ability to keep the forest from getting lost in a myriad of trees. Wearing her scholarship lightly, she blends just the right amount of skepticism about her hagiographic sources with a deep appreciation for the Dharma." — Barry Magid, author of Nothing Is Hidden and Ending the Pursuit of Happiness Order here!
