Here We Are!

If you are reading this you have found the new, improved Mahablog. Let me know what you think. Is the site coming up quickly, or is it still slow? Is it readable?

Update: Also, I keep trying to turn off the registration requirement for commenting, but it’s not working. Sorry about that.

Update update: The RSS feed is fixed. You can find a link to it in the left-hand column.

  1. Maha… congrats! The new layout looks good. The load time is about the same as before. My system is a bb cable modem and MaC OS X Tiger so I’ve never really had loading delays with your site.

  2. Thank you. I notice I don’t have a working RSS feed and my mahablog.com email addresses are bouncing, but these glitches will be ironed out eventually. I will also probably move my archives.

  3. The site looks good, Maha. I noticed some links that were on the left side column of the page had carried over and overlapped commentary in the main body at center. Aslo I ‘m not too keen on the login thing.. it must be something in my rebellious nature, huh?

  4. I liked your blue background; it was easier on these old eyes. And, this logging in business was way too much work. I’m too old these days to take changes easily.

  5. Good job on the new-look site!

As all pointers show the last bastion to support Bush is coming into play – Wall Steet & Big Business/Media.
They will fight for him to the end, asI have said before.

Announcing new FedChmn. and Channels are on Wilma …

  6. I liked the blue-gray background better, too, but I had to pick a template and this was the one that seemed most practical. Eventually the design team (my daughter Erin) may be able to add a different background, but I believe it was attempted already. We may try different “looks” in the future, though, once all the bugs are worked out.

I think the change to a new host platform was necessary for several reasons. One, now the RSS feed works. Two, I hope this page loads faster than the old one did. And three, it’s a lot easier for me to add new posts with this setup than it was with the old one.

  7. OK. I’ve never registered for anything like this before. I was a little nervous, but so far it’s been boffo! I got some e-mail with some gibberishy-looking letters and numbers, so I could practice my copy-and-paste skills. I already attained a User Level of 0 (gotta start somewhere, and I’m pretty good at Tetris, so I think I’ll be able to move up pretty fast), and I got to choose my own nickname and my own real name (they’re the same, but still…). Also–any time I want, I can update my profile. The new site’s gonna rock!

Everything looks really great, especially the new masthead and of course all those well-reviewed books off to the left. I love it! Time to shop!

  8. Here’s another gremlin that I noticed while checking out the site. When you go to copy and paste a comment from the comments section, you can’t highlight and capture the text you want without highlighting almost the entire page. Maybe it’s just something on my end but if everybody experiences the same problem it will curtail the ability to cut and paste parts of others comments in order to comment explicitly on those parts. Make sense?

Oh, Maha..I read all your” how’s this working?”comments and I was reminded of Ed Koch when he was the Mayor of New York, he always asked the news people,” So,how am I doing?. And I, like most New Yorkers, found it to be an endearing comment.

For what it’s worth, I’m not having this problem.
