Nearly Three Hours

Yesterday, the Associated Press reports,

President Bush worked nearly three hours at his Texas ranch on Thursday to design a new U.S. policy in Iraq, then emerged to say that he and his advisers need more time to craft the plan he’ll announce in the new year.

He worked nearly three hours? Gracious, I bet the boy needed his nap after that.

  1. What do you want to bet that the majority of time was spent trying to figure out how to rebuff the statements of the ISG, Colin Powell, and the late President Ford. The new policy is the old policy with more GIs. The ‘surge’ is not going to be temporary. We can’t win militarily (see George Washington from Maha’s previous post) but that won’t keep George from trying. He sure as hell is not going to sit down and negotiate with anyone he does not like. Congress should NOT authorize a larger standing army until there is a fixed commitment from this administration to withdraw from Iraq.

  2. I hope he got his warmed milk and his blankey. The clown probably brought his poo cushion and his fake vomit to the get together so Gates can get to know what a fun guy he his.

  3. ‘What the American people need to understand is, is, that we’re workin’ hard. It’s hard. But we’re workin’. And we’re going to win. I know that. But it’s not easy. It takes bein’ resolved, and it’s important. And that’s why we’re workin’ hard, and our troops are workin’ hard. I’m always thinkin’ about our troops. Which is why I need time. To come up with good answers, and we will. And it takes work, and we are workin’. I know that and the American people need to know that.’

OK, he didn’t say it. But he could have.

  4. If i remember correctly, Dubya spent a little over an hour talking shop with Maliki at their last meeting in Jordan. If he spent three whole hours on this… at least he’s taking his job seriously.

  5. How many more soldiers died while Bush took three whole hours to ponder their fate. This, ahem, is a trick question. Bush is only interested in pondering his own fate.

  6. Most of the discussion was with Barney about how Laure and Rice would not let him participate in ‘walkies’.

Barney made the point that the carpet munching Rice was endangering Bush Crime Fambly values.

The BushMaster agreed and said he would review the video surveillance of the most recent Laura and Rice ‘get together’.

More corporatist ‘news’ as and when you need it.

  7. Remember; call it “escalation”. It’s not a surge until it recedes. Are you going to believe yet another Bush promise?

  8. Good point , Paradoctor… The power of words…I just heard recently where James Dobson made a casual reference to the “abortion industry”.

Bush is going to escalate the war the same as we did in Vietnam. I posted a link here yesterday to some wingnut who is advocating a revival of the Phoenix Program. American death squads targeting sunnis like the Waffen SS Einstatgruppen D targeted Jews and sub-human Slavs in eastern Europe.

  10. The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always a light week for me in terms of new assignments coming in. So I use the time to clear up old/pending matters. On Thursday, I arrived at my office at 8:15 a.m. I worked til 5:30 p.m. I did get an entire hour for lunch.

Can I trade jobs with Mr. Bush? I couldn’t possible screw it up worse than he has.
