The People’s Republic of Fitzwalkerstan

By now you’ve heard that the Wisconsin judge who put a temporary restraining order on the union-busting bill has issued a clarification, saying in no uncertain terms that the bill is restrained. The Wisconsin GOP seems to think they can ignore this, however, or that the judge didn’t say what she said, or something.

Dane County Judge Maryann Sumi said that her original restraining order issued earlier this month was clear in saying no steps should be taken to advance the law. The GOP governor’s administration did so after the bill was published Friday by a state agency not named in Sumi’s earlier temporary restraining order.

“Further implementation of the act is enjoined,” Sumi said.

“Apparently that language was either misunderstood or ignored, but what I said was the further implementation of Act 10 was enjoined. That is what I now want to make crystal clear.”

She warned that those who violate her order could face court sanctions.

But outside the courtroom, Assistant Attorney General Steven Means said the legislation “absolutely” is still in effect.

Unreal. Can we revoke Godwin’s Law now?

  1. First thing, what a great name for a lawyer/judge – Dane County Judge Maryann “Sumi!”

“She warned that those who violate her order could face court sanctions.”

And, I can hear Governor Scott Walker right now saying, as he ignores the restraining order, “So, what are you gonna do, Judge, SUE ME?!?! HAHAHAHAHA!”

This punk needs to habe’ass’ his corpus be bitch-slapped with a nail-studded steel writ.

Oh, and by the way, as far as arresting him? Did you know that the father of one of the leading Republican State Senators was just put in place as head of the WI State Police?
Nepotism and cronyism to the rescue!!!

Nixon, to all apperances, was at least afraid of the law, and how it would look if he didn’t abide by it.
Since Reagan/Bush/Lil’ Bush, uhm, not so much…
    And less so every day.
We need to remember that we’re only a “Nation of Laws” when they apply to Democrats. Guy’s like Scott Walker, are expected to be allowed to get away with everything ‘scott-free!’

  2. As far as the R’s in Wisconsin are concerned a judge (or anyone) with a last name of Sumi is probably a Muslim and can thereby be ignored.

I would like to see the judge issue a contempt citation for the governor and haul his body into court.

    I know. It won’t happen.

  3. Chief, I am with you there. I would love to see Walker’s butt hauled into court, but like you, I think it won’t happen. Perhaps he is taking a leaf from Karl Rove’s playbook.

  4. I’d guess the judge never raised children…”OK, next time I really mean what I say”

  5. Boy, where to start. Right now coming from Walker, they are ‘unclear’ what the order said. Unless you’re brain dead, and that’s the catch, you know exactly what Judge Sumi meant. I’m with a few others, a few nights in a cold cell with Bubba can bring some amazing clarity. Judge Sumi, btw, was appointed by that raving socialist union thug, former Republican Governor and HHS Secretary under Bush the Lesser, Tommy Thompson.

  6. Yeah, buckyblue …a couple of nights with Bubba and they’d learn another definition of what “enjoined” could mean.

  7. I actually think that if they continue with this, SOMEBODY is gonna go to jail. Probably not the governer, but possibly some attorney general or assitant attorney general types.

The judge appears to be seriously pissed off in this latest ruling. What I’m reading round the net is if they continue to take actual actions to enforce this new “law”, (as opposed to just talking smack, as I’ve seen some specualte), there will most certainly be sanctions, and if they continue after that, somebody’s being held in contempt and going to jail.

Unfortunately, as I saay, probably not the governer himself, but soembody far enough up the food chain that enforcement efforts will be halted.

  8. Laws, court orders, restraining orders, why they are just for the unwashed masses that use all the services. Gov. Walker is the supreme ruler such court sanctions have no bearing what so ever! (If you repeat this in a fake english accent it sounds more authentic)

It hurts to laugh at this situation, but laugh I must. Good one!

I dunno, though. Angry judge + betrayed state employees (troopers) might = an instructive overnight stay in a jail cell. Remember Blago?

    Hey, a girl can dream.
