  1. Too bad she didn’t know about the military folks who sham marry so they can move off base. Was happening in the 80’s when I was in, I”m sure it’s still going on today…

  2. The Universe may very well have some boundries, but the stupidity of Conservatives, is boundless.

It’s like a Star Trek for “Morans” – “To go where no man has gone before!”

  3. There’s something about being a republican (besides a love of money) that requires a deep-seated fear that somebody somewhere will get something they don’t deserve.
Every time a republican comes upon a rule they imagine how they would cheat.

  4. 2013 and she’s still wearing shoulder pads under her all-polyester suit. Her opinion on anything is going to be 30 years out of date.

Bingo! Republicans are the best projectionists money can buy! Want to know how a Republican thinks? Ask them about “Democrats.” At some deep cognitive level, they understand what they do is wrong, but they have these wonderful coping mechanisms where they invest their opponents with all of their sins. Let’s call it Dorian Gray syndrome.

Liberals and Democrats tend to do the same thing, except we project our good qualities onto our opponents: they must be intelligent – NO ONE can be that stupid… Every Democratic President since Johnson has walked into the Oval Office and taken the advise of his predecessor at face value. Carter, Clinton, and Obama have paid a heavy political price assuming Republicans told them the truth and/or could be reasoned with. Democrats are quite naive in this regard. Or maybe they, too, have just been bought off…

  6. My Rush-listening dad is afraid that to pay for benefits in same-sex marriages, they’ll loot the pension of public service retirees, like him.

  7. Kind of takes your breath away, huh?

Not at all. It’s the standard logic of God fearing Christains..Like the Apostle Paul said..” that which is unseemly” is now the bedrock of homophobia..

What portion does love, caring and commitment have in a marriage as oppossed the ability to simply procreate?

  8. Stella: speaking as a teacher, I think that’s exactly true. They imagine that they would show a movie everyday and call in sick every time they can, and then assume that every teacher would do exactly the same thing. The fact that they can’t imagine that people show up to work, in every profession, and do the best job they can, tells you all you need to know about these clowns.

  9. Maybe it’s an April Fools Day joke? Rather, I hope it’s an April Fools Day joke.

  10. Maybe if she commmits trigonometry and has a husband and a wife she can have the best of both worlds and double-deduct everything!

    • Is committing trigonometry anything like perpetrating algebra? I’ve always had my suspicions about algebra.

  11. In the Bible there is a passage that says: “the marriage bed is undefiled”. Some Christians interpret that to mean that anything goes between a married couple. Sort of like having the Lord saying you’re not locked into a lifetime of the plain vanilla missionary position…Your sex life is your own, and he’s not going to be peeking in on you to see that you dont make the wrong moves.
But if DOMA is struck down and same sex marriages come to pass..Then there’ll be a lot of disappointed Christians who will have to reevaluate what the Lord intended when he made that statement.

  12. Swami, for the most part, those are not people in the habit of rethinking anything. They will just swell up more from impacted resentment and duct tape their TV channel selector to Faux so they won’t be challenged any further.
