Troller in Chief

President Obama plans to make these recommendations in the SOTU:

President Obama will use his State of the Union address to call on Congress to raise taxes and fees on the wealthiest taxpayers and the largest financial firms to finance an array of tax cuts for the middle class, pressing to reshape the tax code to help working families, administration officials said on Saturday.

He even proposes to raise the capital gains tax, peeps. And as many have pointed out, no way is a Republican controlled Congress going to pass that. But he’s pushing the GOP to have to publicly and loudly oppose raising taxes on the rich and to relieve the burden on the middle class, which polls have shown time and time again to be a popular idea.

I know, I know … let’s ask Mittens what he thinks and see how long his “champion of the working man” re-branding lasts. Of course, in Fox News World the sheep are just being told Obama wants to raise taxes.

Update: Nice analysis of Romney’s rebranding vis à vis the President’s tax proposals at Just Above Sunset. Definitely worth a read.

  1. Obama is not going to roll over as a lame duck president. His own party made him stand in a corner for the last election, which he accepted. I would be tempted, in those circumstances, to pout and wait out the last two years. Obama’s not. Cuba and Immigration policy show that. We’re gonna see some vetos soon. And he’s forcing the GOP to debate tax policy. We won’t win any victories in the next two years but Obama is going to force some wonderful debates.

  2. Well, Scalia’s been trolling the SCOTUS and the nation for years, so it’s nice to see our President trolling the entire Republican Party and conservatism!

Of course, FOX “news” will now start bitching and whining about the “activist President.”
    Suck it, “MORANS!!!”

  3. I enjoyed “Just Above Sunset”. Good analysis + writing. Geographically, it’s a nice perch above, shall we say, a more interesting part of LA.

  4. I’m looking forward to the 2016 Repuglican primary,if anything it should be a wonderful clown show. I’m sure it will be a boon for the St.Vincent de Paul soup kitchens with all the Repuglican candidates clamoring for an opportunity to wash dishes. Who knows?,maybe Mitt will head off the pack and do a foot washing. That’s always a good act of humility to establish an affinity with the poor.
