Thanks to Donald Trump it's now safe to say Merry Christmas. So in keeping with our new found freedom I'd like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas.

I'd like to wish a "Merry Christmas!" to all of the millions of people who were jailed by O'BUMMER and we heathen Libtards for uttering that phrase in public.

All of them were set free by president* tRUMP – just in time for last year's Christmas.

So this is their second year of the freedom to openly wish a merry Christmas to others, instead of that heathenous "Happy Holidays!"

    So  Merr… Merry Bah-humbug!

    Merry Christmas to all!

Happy Holidays-mahabloggers! Why aren't Chuck and Nancy all over the tee-vee machine alerting the public that Trumps government shutdown means that our Border Patrol is working without pay. The men and women keeping the brown hordes at bay are working without a paycheck. "Trump says No Border Wall means No pay for the Border Patrol" seems like a fairly simple message? WTF?

It won't be a merry Christmas at all for one immigrant family:

Their 8 year-old boy died while in US custody!

    In OUR custody.

    I can't take it anymore 😢.

    I just can't… 😭

Gulag, at least the kid didn't have to grow up in prison, never knowing who his mama was? See Trump to the rescue again!

Merry Christmas, my friends. I have hope for the New Year. The tide is turning. Evil won't go quietly but it's being unmasked.  What Trump has done will be exposed and the needless deaths of children wil be jusged the most harshly by conservatives who fell for the lies. There will be a backlash – it may not include conservatives taking up liberal values but it will recognize decency and truth.

"the needless deaths of children wil be jusged the most harshly by conservatives who fell for the lies"

Bullshit. Conservatives? After two years of unquestioned fealty you still believe "conservatives" will come around. Doug I respect your opinions but "conservatives" don't exist anymore, certainly not enough take trump down. There are no "conservatives" not by the true definition of the word, only trailer park facists and they will stand by Trump till the end. Trump is going to be brought down by moderates and liberals.

Again, WE liberals are the real "conservatives!"

We're trying to "conserve" the best attributes of American-style representative  democracy from the forces of Fascism, Authoritarianism, Theocracy, Bigotry, and other malign and malicious ideologies.

Btw – None of these are new efforts.  They have always been in the quiver for GOP politicians.  They're just so much more blatant about it since this orange creature became president*.

Happy Christmas, and a merry New Year.

uncledad – I respect your opinions, too – quite sincerely. I also understand the frustration – Trump approval went up 2 points according to Gallup in last week's poll. WTF???!! I am sympathetic.  Allow me two talking points to justify my opinion.

There is no more destructive cult of personaity in the last century than Adolph Hitler. The German people today are among the most staunch defenders of democracy in Europe. When the Third Reich fell and the hold over propaganda ended with the truth about Nazi atrocities exposed, the cult was disolved.

I had a discussion last week with a conservative lady who asked me how liberals could justify harassing Trump Cabinet officials. I said, "Because an eight-year-old girl died of neglect in ICE custody this week."

"oh, yes" was the response. She got it – the result of inhuman policies are causing indefensable tragedies. Is she anti-Trump this week? No. But for a moment, she got why we are pissed. I very deliberately didn't try to lay it on her personally. Eventually, I want her to cross the bridge away from the fascism you think all conservatives hold to. I want to encourage her to reject Trumpism and I'll respect that we differ on issues that aren't married to bigotry and xenephobia.

Your reasoning is valid and I'm sure for a minority of Trump voters they can be persuaded to turn against him. I only speak for the Trumpers that I know personally, almost every one of them used to be apolitical, at least they never discussed politics on a regular basis. Now they are FAUX news watching Trump warriors, brown kids dying in custody is not an issue to them, in fact some of them I'm sure believe it is better than having them become undocumented citizens. The Trumpers I know are low-info cultists they are not going to turn away, in fact the worse Trump acts the more they like him.

Funny part is Dems  are not  sworn in and trp is whining 'presidential harassment '.

Can I whine Kentucky harassment?  Since I have to live with the consequences of McConnell and Paul every day.
