Well, Now We’re Past New Hampshire

I’ve been waiting to see if anything interesting might happen in New Hampshire, but it doesn’t seem Haley is making it close enough to be interesting, and Trump is projected the winner just 16 minutes after the polls close. Haley is speaking now and is saying  I’m not losing as much as they said I would, so I am staying in the race. We’ll see. She’s an empty suit if there ever was one, but it would have been nice if Trump’s march to his coronation had hit a speed bump.

Meanwhile, here’s some good news — No Labels Sued by New York Donors Claiming ‘Bait and Switch’ by Maggie Haberman at the New York Times (no paywall).

Two members of the powerful Durst real estate family in New York have sued the centrist group No Labels, accusing it of pulling a “bait and switch” by seeking donations for a bipartisan governing group and then moving to fund a third-party presidential candidacy.

The breach of contract and “unjust enrichment” suit was filed in New York State Supreme Court on Tuesday by the chairman and president of the Durst Organization, Douglas and Jonathan Durst, who are cousins. It seeks damages and reimbursements after the Dursts donated $145,000 years ago, when No Labels was founded on the promise of finding governing solutions.

No Labels has been getting ballot access on behalf of a third party presidential ticket yet to be named. I keep hearing that Joe Lieberman is behind this. Once a weasel, always a weasel. Maybe this lawsuit will slow them down.

  1. I watched as much “election coverage” as I could earlier in the day. As usual I scanned the cables and as usual I detected that every single network bobblehead, news ticker, even the b-roll is pretty much the same. It’s almost as if one production team writes the outline for all of them? It’s a fucking joke. Dana Bash, Andrea Mitchell, Jose Balart, Rachel Maddow, Sean Hannity, Chris Hayes, Joy Reid you name it, it’s all the same. They talk about the election and Stump like 2016-2020 never happened. They go on and on about how dedicated the magats are, and every detail of Stumps many legal cases but they never mention that at the end of Stumps term the economy was in shambles. The markets crashed, unemployment was 10%, thousands of people were dying every day from a virus that Stump and the republicans refused to and still refuse to acknowledge. Stump lost  3 million jobs home prices increased by almost 30%. Today the markets are at a all time high, unemployment is as low as it’s been since the sixties. Gas prices are normal, the United States is the largest producer of crude oil, ahead of Russia, Saudi Arabia, you name it. The real problem we have in this country is disinformation it’s not just tik-tok, fakebook, twitter, AI or deep fakes, it’s on your tee-vee. And it is bought and paid for. The corporate media has been lying to this country ever since Stump got elected. Any wonder why we have so many fucking idiots willing to vote for Stump again? To me msnbc is the worst, they pretend to be “liberal” but they play the same game as FAUX, it’s the same message just not quite as ill-mannered, and less bad makeup. They saturate the coverage with Stumps legal minutia to the point where it means nothing. How many times do we need to hear Joyce Vance and Andrew Wiessman say the same shit? All of these propagandists are sponsored by the same companies. Rachel Maddow gets her multi-million dollar salary from the same advertisers that pay Sean Hannity. It’s a fuckin racket, and if ignoring the impending facism of Stump pays the bills, then that is what they are going to do.

  2. I'm reading that "roughly" two-thirds of independent voters who voted in NH voted against Trump. If that's extends to be a national number by November, Trump is toast. I also read that over 40%  of Haley voters in NH declared they would not vote for Trump if Haley dropped out.

  3. Biden won handily in NH and his name was not on the ballot.  Trump got a little over half of those eligible to vote in the republican primary and his name was on the ballot but by the constitution is not eligible to run for the office due to him inciting an insurrection (apparently).  That he is guilty of sexual assault and defamation is a fact determined by a jury, now we just need to find an amount of money and other things to give the victim justice.

The Greg Seargent article was excellent.  Trump's character (or lack thereof) is almost indefensible.

Does Trump have to register as a sexual predator?  Is he prohibited from taking those little blue pills?

  4. I'm no Nikki fan, but today, she unfurled some choice insults at tRUMP, calling him out for his ungracious insult-laden "victory speech."

I like it that a non-white woman is his only competitor left in the GQP.

With her continually  nipping at his heels, tRUMP's going to get completely unhinged, and he'll become even more racist and misogynistic.

And that bodes well for democracy!

    • I seen almost every GQP'er that said they were against Stump eventually turn on a dime and kiss his big fat ass. Me thinks Niki will do the same, I don't think she wants to lose her home state, it's sort of the kiss of death for a politician. So I wouldn't be surprised if she suspends her campaign in the next few weeks. I hope I'm wrong.

  5. Nikki staying in could force Trump to spend money in the primaries that he wants for his lawyers and for the general. Worse, she forces Trump to spend time in campaigning when Trump is trying to deal with the trials.

Trump is crashing in live appearances with "senior moments" that highlight his mental decay. If she's out of it, they can pivot to canned advertising and fewer events on the stage when Trump "riffing"  gives the media material to question how many marbles Trump has.

I'm not sure how sharp Biden is, but he's got a great team. Trump is the whole show as far as the election goes. He can't point to a qualified, experienced team who will follow his direction. I pity Trump's campaign staff, tasked with gagging Trump to try to conceal the decay which Trump himself will refuse to admit.
