Again, the Problem Is Guns

Regarding the Kansas City Chiefs rally shooting — two juveniles are in custody. I haven’t seen how old these juveniles are. The Kansas City police are saying the juveniles started shooting because of a “dispute between several people.” The shooting had nothing to do with any ideological agenda, they say. No one has said if any of the people injured, or the one person killed, were involved in the dispute.

Of course, had these juveniles not been carrying firearms, there would have been no shooting. In Missouri, a juvenile, a person under 18 years of age, can purchase a firearm with a parent’s permission. As I understand it, to carry a concealed weapon one must be at least 19 years old, or 18 years old and a member of the armed forces. I haven’t found information on an age limit on open carry. Maybe there isn’t one.

Further, no permits or licenses are required to own and carry firearms in Missouri. One must assume a lot of people in that crowed were armed. Yet no “good guy with a gun” stopped the shooting. One juvenile was tackled to the ground and held for police by an adult attending the event, but he didn’t use a gun.

It’s a long-established fact that juvenile males tack the sense God gave potatoes. Note that it’s illegal in Missouri for people under 21 to consume, purchase, or possess alcohol. But firearms? No problem.

A lot happened today that I am too tired to address, but do feel free to discuss whatever in the comments.

  1. OT: Trump filed his reply to Jack Smith. Folks, that's a record. Trump waited til the last day to file with the USSC, which was Monday. Jack had a week but he fired of an answer on Wednesday. Trump answered back on Friday. (today). That Trump was so quick indicates (to me) that for once, the message was more important than a precious few days of delay.

The first issue requires five justices to grant a stay – which transfers the case to the USSC rather than back to Chutkan. The second issue is a decision to grant a hearing before the USSC to Trump. That would require four justices to sign on. And Trump is arguing that there is no need to hurry. Trump explicitly stated that Smith wants this to be decided before the election. By implication, Trump does not. THAT is the issue before the court – whether to grant a delay to Trump to save Trump's ass in the election.

Trump's reply seals the process of the application. It's up to the Supremes when and how they will decide. If they issue a stay, they will grant the hearing BUT I see no way they can do that without doing it on an expedited basis. Events yesterday changed the schedule. NY gets first crack at Trump in the hush-money criminal case starting on March 25. Give that six weeks – the DC case can't be scheduled until the very end of May.

Willis is finishing up a hearing on her removal. I don't know how this will go. It seems to hinge on WHEN the affair between Willis and Wade began. A "friend" of Willlis testified that the affair began BEFORE Willis hired Wade. So was she lying and did her bank account get a sudden and unexplained deposit? There are "receipts" for vacations that Willis and Wade took. They claim Wade was repaid in cash for plane tickets. BFD.

The judge in the case has allowed the lawyers to get into cheap tabloid levels of questioning. As I read accounts, they haven't been able to establish with any objective evidence that there's anything more than a technical and possible impropriety in Wade occasionally picking up the tab on dates when they were in a relationship that is NOT a violation of GA ethical standards. The technicality is that Wade, as an indirect employee of Willis, paid a "kickback" to Wade with taxpayer money by giving Willis anything of value.

Nobody is saying that Willis and Wade conspired to plant evidence on Trump. IMO, Willis and Wade should have KNOWN that against someone like Trump, this would come back to haunt them. But they let their emotions in the moment create an opportunity. IMO, they probably started the affair AFTER they began working together and a disgruntled former associate got a major payoff to stab Willis in the back. I HOPE the judge will find for Willis and that there's no room for this to be resurrected by other defendants. But if the judge goes the other way, the whole case is in jeopardy.

The MAL documents case is in flux. Trump is demanding an open-ended delay and a ruling on exposing sealed evidence so MAGA can conduct a campaign of harassment and intimidation. If Cannon grants Trump's wishes, Jack can request Cannon be removed. But Cannon seems unable to refuse Trump anything. So that might go either way and probably slowly. I want Cannon removed even if that slows everything down in that case. Trump is a gonner on that if it goes to trial with a fair judge at the helm.

Today? there should be a decision on Trump's NY civil case. I'm thinking $325 million. Trump will have to come up with a $90 million dollar bond for the E. Jean Carroll appeal. I suspect the bond to appeal the NY civil case will be $350 million. Trump is taking over the RNC but there's not a lot of money to be had there. Trump wants that to be a cash cow for the Trump election and to fund his legal problems. So the RNC will probably get as aggressive as a NY protection racket. Where is Tony Montoya when you need him?

The ONLY witness to Biden having received any money from Hunter over Burisma was charged with felony perjury over his testimony. EVERYBODY and I mean every last soul except that lying clown who has testified before the House has cleared Joe of every accusation except fathering a greedy, shallow drug addict. So that may be the stake in the heart of the Biden impeachment. The Mayokas impeachment won't cause a ripple in the news.

  2. Yes… but… what if they aren't!?!?!

Of course, Guns are the problem but, equally destructive is the Political Party which has  decided to be a fully-fascist, foreign-funded Organization which undermines Law&Order and advances the Firearm Manufacturing Industry explicitly against the wishes of the American People because the more gun deaths, the more gun violence equals more guns sold and more money for everyone who loves when children are shot to pieces.
