It may be that the most significant thing that happened today is Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp deciding not to run for the Senate in 2026. This boosts incumbent Jon Ossoff’s chances considerably. The future of this country depends on a Democratic-led House and Senate starting January 2027. I haven’t heard why Kemp decided to not run, but I can speculate that he just plain doesn’t want any part of the mess Congress is now,
Meanwhile, Trump seems to have fully entered Mad King mode. He’s putting a tariff on foreign-made movies. Hollywood filmmakers have no idea how this would work. He doesn’t know if he has to uphold the Constitution. He doesn’t know anything. And the sanewashing continues.
A federal judge on Monday ordered the North Carolina Board of Elections to certify the Democratic incumbent’s victory in a State Supreme Court race, rejecting a monthslong effort from the Republican challenger to throw out tens of thousands of votes.
I really thought the Republicans were going to get away with stealing this election. But the people prevailed. There will be an appeal, no doubt, so perhaps we shouldn’t celebrate just yet.
More tomorrow.
In terms of news, on Sunday, Trump confirmed that there will be a parade from the Pentagon on Flag Day, which is also Trump's birthday. Some permitting details were released last week through FOI. I don't think the route has been announced, but if the party does not pass by the White House, I'll eat my hat.
This fits in perfectly wth Trump's view of politics as a reality show that he directs. It's all about him, but the taxpayers foot the bill for a media extravaganza Trump plans to star in. But oddly, that's not the way Trump spun it. "They" decided to have a parade on Flag Day which just happens to be my birthday. Isn't that a quaint coincidence?
Since I do not think Trump has discovered humility, I looked for other motives for Trump downplaying his involvement. IMO, Trump is already deep in scripting the event for his own glory. But Trump hates it when Democrats rain on his parade, so he's trying not to give so much advance notice with details of how the parade will become the Trump Show. Trump wants to keep the spotlight – if his opposition outnumbers (by several factors) his supporters, the event becomes a stage for the opposition.
BTW, Flag Day is the tenth anniversary of my reporting to prison. Yes, I'm planning to be there.
In the world of perception is (equals) reality illusion runs rampant. Why go to El Salvador and get an innocent man out of jail when you can photoshop gang identification on his knuckles. If your mad king is showing too much madness in public, then get some well edited public sessions out there that obscure the madness. Never ever admit that perception is NOT reality on many occasions and a photoshopped picture of a con artist in a pope costume does not instill respectability or holiness to the con man involved.
Meanwhile you might want to avoid Newark airport for sure. If you have had student loans, you may be in for a rough ride even with paperwork showing no money still owed. You may find yourself up against revisionist accounting which seems to be running rampant in Washington of late. The king is continuing to have problems with numbers and the sycophants are on board and providing cover.
Ten years ago, Doug air-mailed truth to power. Reality was rejected. The messenger caught the heat, and the message got rejected. Now they wade in a morass of illusion with planes falling out of the sky and systems breaking down in many places. You bet those counties will eat those tariffs. You never believed that Mexico would pay for that wall either. See. As Ronald Reagan used to say, there you go again. Pick a card, any card.
Oh, just for the record cybercurrency is NOT real money even if the president's family and the House of Saud is involved. Beware.
Yeah. Pet Rocks, Chia Pets, Crypto… all the same stuff.
Here's how I visualize crypto. Way back when.. they used to include baseball trading cards with a stick of gum. The value of the gum always went down, especially after chewed. The value of the baseball "trading" card varied wildly depending on its scarcity and the perceived skill and importance of the player that week.
A card might be VERY popular and valuable one week, and then almost nothing if the player went into a slump (or took up selling shoes when no team would hire him.) Trump-crypto is a "hot" item, going up in value as the Saudis and others bribe Trump by "legally" bribing Trump by purchasing Trump crypto. The Trump family will be almost the only persons to make money as they will cash out before the value falls. Other suckers following the Saudis won't even get the benefit of whatever the Saudis are buying with the bribe.
Yup. All of the family's crypto activity is both a pump-and-dump scam and an intended dodge of bribery laws.
