Here’s the Times’s coverage. Trump has already declared the raids a “great success.” Josh Marshall reminds us that Trump may be a bit premature in his assessment. Not the first time, of course. Maybe somebody can find the old banner and hoist it over the White House, or something. But damage assessments can take some time.Trump can’t possibly know how “successful” any of this was, yet.

Let’s state the obvious that the US has committed a major act of war against another country without any specific immediate or even medium term threat. This is not a token bombing of the kind the US has done more than a few times in the post-Cold War era to make a point.

Dropping bombs on the Houthis in Yemen has almost become a presidential tradition. Bombing Iran is different, and I’m not sure Trump is bright enough to appreciate the difference. Maybe he’ll stop at these three bombing raids, and maybe there won’t be any blowback that hits our troops in t he region. Maybe. Or maybe Trump is about to be schooled in the deep meaning of the word quagmire.

Two days ago Stump said he would give Iran two weeks to make a deal before he bombs the nuclear sites, yesterday he bombed three nuclear sites, today he says all three nuclear sites have been "obliterated". Gee I just know who to believe! One thiing is for sure Bibi gets another US president to bend the knee. I'm afraid this stunt is going to cost us in the long run, but who cares as long as Israel is safe!

  2. Horror today, horror tomorrow, horror for as far as the eye can see. Welcome to the era of constant horror.

While I do think that orange man got owned by Bibi, the unapproved act of war was the point… he thought he could jump on Bibi's winning cruelty bandwagon and be macho while showing that he can do anything he effing wants, regardless of legality. A total dominance display and a win-win for him. This raid was not for international audiences, but to remind the US lefties that he is king with the trigger and to "wow" his cult with a bit of ultraviolence and macho-man fireworks.  It also looks like Iran got the heads up before the raids and that will be the real story and message: US incompetence. 

    Just not funny how they are justifying all this with WMD. Iran is only a threat to us because they are allies with Russia and work to supply drones to kill civilians in Ukraine. John Stewart had a segment showing how Bibi was saying regularly on camera  for the past 15 years or so that Iran was TWO WEEKS away from producing a nuclear weapon. 

    Let's see how this plays in Peoria.
