Florida’s surgeon general on Wednesday announced plans to end all state vaccine mandates, including for children to attend schools, which would make it the first state to completely withdraw from a practice credited with boosting vaccination rates and controlling the spread of infectious diseases.
Speaking at a news conference outside Tampa with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo said that every vaccine mandate “is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery.” Ladapo’s stances on vaccines and other measures intended to protect Floridians have drawn criticism from public health experts and advocates.
I expect more Red states to do this. Who’s next? Texas? Idaho? Missouri? Alabama?
Note that a couple of years ago Ladapo altered the results of a state-funded study on the safety of covid vaccines to make the study align with his anti-vax opinions. But Rhonda Santis thinks he’s a great guy, so he’s still in his job.
Blue states are going in a different direction. Three West Coast states — California, Oregon, and Washington — are forming a public health alliance to be sure their residence are at least getting honest scientific information about vaccines.
It’s important to remember that in matters of public health and safety, states have always had primary authority. It’s my understanding that states can regulate vaccines without the federal government’s say so, meaning that states ought to be able to regulate which groups qualify for which vaccines. We’ll see.
New York and 15 other states have laws that say pharmacists can only vaccinate people according to CDC recommendations. Last week CVS in New York state wasn’t dispensing covid vaccines at all. Now I understand you can get one at CVS if you are over 65, although I haven’t yet checked that out personally. There’s talk that to get a vaccine at a pharmacy one will need a prescription, but I don’t know if that’s official. And I understand the NY state legislature is working on a new law that eliminates the CDC and sites some other medical source for recommendations, like maybe the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which have publicly broken with the new federal health guidelines. Or something. It may be awhile before the dust settles.
But by this winter we may be seeing huge differences in vaccination rates, and not just for covid, depending on whether you live in a Red state or Blue state. And if a lot of Red states drop vaccine mandates, watch the epidemics spread.
In Epstein news, the survivors are saying they’re compiling their own “Epstein client list” and will release it if the Administration keeps stonewalling.
And there’s somebody who really doesn’t want any more files made public. See Frantic Trump Tries to Kill Vote to Force Open Epstein Files at The Daily Beast.
The White House has warned Republican rebels in Congress that pushing for the full release of the Jeffrey Epstein pedophile abuse files would be seen as “a very hostile act” by President Donald Trump.
Next, watch White House officials begin to disparage the survivors and find creative ways to impugn their credibility, in case they do release their own list.
Well at least all those low info crackers down there in Florida have plenty of guns to take themselves out once they all start dying from god knows what diseases that will mutate post vaccines in that hell hole. Good riddance!
The survivors should release their list asap, I'm not sure who is advising them to only release the list if the WH doesn't, that sounds like bad advice, it will only feed the "hoax" narrative that Stump is spinning?
There are no doubt some very powerful and well-connected men on that list, and as soon as the survivors reveal their names the survivors are going to get slammed and maligned and sued and run through the muck. This is how the world works.
I have a question. Watchng some of the Epstein Victim Interview, I was surprised by the sound(s) of jets doing what sounded like repeated low altitude fly-bys over the US Capitol Building. (I know a little about that airspace.) Civilian jets are NOT allowed at that altitude. Yes, planes get cleared every day to fly over restricted DC airspace at an altitude deemed not to be a threat. The ONLY aircraft allowed that close to the WH and Capitol Bldg are the President's Helo, medical evac helos, and that's it. The noise was disruptive – was that the plan? Who ordered and authorized it? Is anybody in the press corps smart enough to recognize that the jet(s) where they were is not normal?
Second, IMO, the victims, as a cohesive group, are a huge threat. I belive Trump had his name redacted on the basis he was an innocent bystander. Trump will defend and protect Bill Clinton if it allows his alibi to survive. There's an effort to conflate redacting the names of the victims because they WERE minors at the time and are entitled to privacy. (I'm fine with that for any of the victims who want to be anonymous.) I do not see that the same logic applies to Epstein's friends and associates. Just having a business relationship with Epstein is not proof of a crime, but it justifies an investigation of the nature of the "business" and what was exchanged.
Lawsuits for defamation are a two-edged sword. If the WH uses the public-owned pulpit to defame the victims, individually or collectively, there should be grounds for a shot across the bow warning, followed by filing a suit for defamation if anybody in the government smears the victims. It looked to me like all the victims have lawyers.
Those lawyers can work to depose their clients separately for specific information about Epstein, Maxwell, specific methods they used to control the girls and how they were trafficked and to WHO. IMO, these separate and independent statements will turn up repeating patterns of lies and manipulation, especially for Maxwell, which will make it costly for Trump to pardon Maxwell. And he will. If separate depositions with separate victims turn up repeating names, it will be DAMNED hard for them to intimidate the accuser.
There's an unpredictable psycological dynamic here. Will the victim's loyalty to each other by the bond of a shared horrific event be stronger than the desire to end the ordeal and put it behind her? None of them wanted what they were tricked and manipulated into. Older now, with relationships that will be strained by a new confrontation, many won't be eager to engage. Understandably. But will they turn their back on a fellow victim who has decided to take the risk?
There's a lot of powerful pervs out there who will not sleep well tonight. I don't have any sympathy, even of one of them is named Bill Clinton.
I was suspicious about the flyover, and did some research. According to this article, it was to honor the visiting Polish president, and a Polish pilot who died at an air show.
Just a coincidence that it interrupted an outside meeting of ten Epstein victims with the press. When is the last time a visiting dignitary was gifted a flyover? Thank you for looking up the official excuse – pardon me if I'm not persuaded.
I'm not particularly persuaded one way or the other. Just reporting what I found.
You did that and I thank you.
It is an honor to read what you and doug post. The flyby was a distraction, that is for sure.
When asked about the Epstein victims, Trump babbled about it being a Democratic hoax, and how come the press isn't talking about the 7 wars he stopped?
Someone did the legwork, and found that whenever Trump calls something a hoax, it always has turned out to be true. And 7 wars? Really? On this planet?
I looked up "discharge petition" and found that it only requires a majority of House members to sign it, where it then must be brought to a full vote. One bad aspect of this, is that the signees are public, and so Trump will know who to go after. Will enough Rs have the guts to defy him?
Say what you want about MTG, but she has courage. She was also spurned by Trump and knows his days are numbered. The others might just fold.
"Say what you want about MTG, but she has courage."
I suspect she, as a possible agent of donnie, is in there to ensure the public gets the "proper" paperwork.
Stuff is happening fast. Harvard wins in suit over 2B of research money withheld. Trump is offering Eric Adams a HUD position to get him out of the NY race. Something else (dog catcher?) is being offered the Republican candidate. So Trump is in bed with Cuomo to try to rig the election by narrowing the number of candidates. My question s in the Trump-Cuomo love fest, who is on top?

Who would be silly enough to work in schools without vaccination requirements? There is no really polite way to say the truth, kids are germy and are well known to harbor parasites. Any school worker can fill you in. It is a challenge even with vaccine requirements.
Then think of school sports. What is a better way to spread contagious diseases than athletic events. Long bus trips, crowds, locker rooms, to strange places without what they typically call herd immunity sound like a perfect recipe for fostering epidemics. Not a good plan unless the goal is to promote as much horror as possible. When you get to bet your life to go to a game, it adds to the excitement? Who needs that?
I think each of the women who participated in the press conference should receive immediate protection from their local police agencies or the National Guard. It's about to be open season for death threats and attempted violence. The White House just rang the opening bell.
Joyce Vance, People who fight this hard to hide something have something to hide.
Have read that Reps Massie and MTG plan to read the victims' list into the Congressional record, because as Congress-people they are shielded from prosecurtion, which would otherwise crush the victims if they spoke up on their own. Same trick Nancy Mace pulled months ago, naming her abuser, as part of "official business".
