Wearing her scholarship lightly, she blends just the right amount of skepticism about her hagiographic sources with a deep appreciation for the Dharma." — Barry Magid, author of

From the LGM blog:
For a man who would show tremendous joy at killing brown people around the world from an office in DC, Dick Cheney cowered away from doing so personally. He applied for and received a mere 5 deferments so he could avoid fighting in the Vietnam War. In 1989, a Washington Post reporter asked him about this. He replied, "I had other priorities in the ’60s than military service."
My favorite Cheney anecdote is that Liz was born exactly nine months after the announcement that married men with no children would henceforth be subject to the draft.
There are contradictions in and about that family, Dick Cheney accepted and supported his gay daughter, Mary. Within the WH, Cheney lied to his boss, President Bush, and ran deceptive and criminal operations out of the VP office. The shadow President. Scooter Libby went to prison for lying for Cheney, something Bush did not pardon Libby for, though Cheney lobbied for it. Which suggests to me that Dick got caught by the facts lying to Bush Cheney enriched himself in office, protecting military contractors where he had a substantial investment from penalties for outright fraud. Dick Cheney became a vocal critic of Trump after J6.
I presume flags will not be flown at half-mast, which is probably appropriate. So much of what he did was vile but occasionaly he took a stand on principle.
"Dick Cheney accepted and supported his gay daughter"
I believe he said Gay marriage should be left to the states which isn't really supporting Gay rights for everyone, but yes certainly nbetter than most of the tea-tards at the time. Equal rights for me but not for thee.
We voted here in Indiana today in my district, I voted to raise my property taxes!
With the obvious exceptions of Nixon and Armey, never was a politician more appropriately named Dick.
Spare a thought for centrist dem consultants this morning. They just learned their ideal candidate for the Democratic 2028 presidential ticket has passed away.

"I'm told that we should only speak good of the dead." (pause) "Dick Cheney is dead. Good."
As hard as it is to believe, there was a time when I and my friends' thought Dick Cheney was one of worst republicans we would see in our lifetimes. Boy has that scale skewed to the screwed-up category. Cheney today hardly rates a dishonorable mention.
