And Now for Something Completely Different

On top of the rest of the craziness in Washington, Rep. Peter King is holding more hearings on Islamic terrorism. But Rep. Shirley Jackson Lee wandered off the script and suggested there ought to be hearings about right-wing radicalism.

Naturally a number of rightie bloggers reacted with derision. “Non-existant Christian militants,” sneered one.

In other news, last night a Dallas-area Planned Parenthood clinic was bombed with a molotov cocktail.

And Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz discussed another kind of terrorism that possibly is not connected to Islam.

  1. Good Lord. We just saw a Christian sociopath blow away 80 plus CHILDREN in Norway because their political party did’nt sufficiently hate Muslims and now King is pushing ahead with more divisive nonsense. The GOP threatens my way of life — and my pocket book– more than Osama ever did, evil as he was.

  2. She (Wasserman) said the GOP rhetoric could “spark panic and chaos,” which she called “potentially devastating” to the economy………….

Could spark, I think it already is a-blaze. I’m not happy with the way the democrats have slow played this thing, maybe it will work but it seems the dimwitted teabaggers are so emboldened now they’ll not listen to reason at all. The time for calling out “tactics” was weeks ago.

  3. maha,
Why is the less dim of the two Congresssional King “Brothers” bothering with this sequel, “Booga-booga, Muslims Is Outta Getchew: Booga-lu II?’
The first hearings were about as attended and newsworthy as Sarah’s new movie, ‘The Unprotected.’
No, wait, I’m sorry, I meant “The Undefeated” – which was pretty much unattended.
‘The Unprotected’ is the story of a Conservative Christian Alaskan family involved with state and national politics whose children keep having childen out of wedlock.
And we’ll just ignore home-grown rightie terror until someone else McVieigh’s a federal building. Or leaves a bomb at the next MLK Day remembrance. And I’m sure the nice shrieking yappers at FOX News, and numbskullneocons like Jennifer Ruben at the WaPo, and all of the rightie blockhead-o-sphere will restrain themselves and wait for more information before reflexively pointing fingers to any religious or ethnic group.
Who am I kidding? After the next boom, they’ll all be too busy shouting “Hip-Hip Habib!” blaming it on Muslims, to hear that is was some reader of Geller, Erickson, or Malkin who decided that Jesus would be better served if he was served a sacrifice of human flesh. Apparently, Jesus loooooves him some dark meat when it comes to sacrifices.

    As for DWS?
    You GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO girl!!!

PS: Maha, you might want to fix that link for the PP molotov cocktail story – it now links to a story about a town rewarded for its open records process.

  4. Ms. Wasserman Schultz lays it on thickly, but there is an element of truth. If these folks who won’t consider compromise at any level ever get in the presidential seat, watch out.
Some of the Right (was it 1/3? of the population) only hears what it wants to hear.

  5. Hmmmmm….no wonder I feel like I’m on the island in Lord fo the Flies….after all adult supervision went missing. Lucky for my dog he had me to rub his nose in poop (a metaphor, my dog responds to positive reinforcement….his reality) just once before he “got it”. If 1/3 hears only what they want to hear there’ll be no point in confronting them with the messes they create. For those only a sound woopin’ works. I can’t believe I’m saying this.

What used to keep the crazy somewhat contained. Whatever it was we need to get it back.

  6. The guy from Norway was about as christian as the teabaggers, i.e., not at all. They are all ChINOs.
