Wisconsin Recall

The polls say Scott Walker will keep his governor’s seat, but that it will be close. Josh Eidelson writes at Salon that robo-calls are telling Wisconsin voters they don’t have to vote if they signed the petition. What are you hearing?

  1. Maybe buckyblue knows – How much did Walker’s puppet-masters the Kochsucker Boutspend Barrett and the Democrats?
    20 to 1?
    30 to 1?

I think Charles Manson might win with that kind of PAC advertizing advantage.

  2. That should read:
    ‘…Kochsucker Brothers outspend….

Jeez, my laptops got more bugs than a sugar-coated Sasquatch.

  3. Dear Barbara,

In your blog about the Wisconsin Recall you mention that Walker is ahead in the polls. Because you asked your readers what they are hearing about the election I thought you may enjoy this Newsy Video that has coverage of the election from different media outlets. http://www.newsy.com/videos/wisconsin-recall-voters-head-to-polls
I am hoping you will embed it into your post to share more information with your readers about the recall. Newsy strives to provide the user with a more complete view of the news by highlighting the nuances in reporting. Thanks for your time!

  4. If Walker wins the recall, it will have been a complete and total waste of time–not to mention the money it will cost. It will be very discouraging for those of us who know this is one more shot from the right against Democracy.

  5. “If Walker wins the recall, it will have been a complete and total waste of time–not to mention the money it will cost” If it gets increasingly expensive for the 1% to beat down the voters, they will inevitably resort to force. Then they lose; that’s how they eventually lost the Vietnam war; the public had no taste for watching the police and the guard clubbing and murdering innocent college kids. Regardless of today’s outcome, it cost Rove and Koch a TON of cash to keep their puppet competitive.

  6. Barrett got outspent by 4-1 here. I don’t watch much local TV and just can’t stomach watching these things from Walker. The neighbors are glad because I’ve stopped yelling at the TV. The word on the street, as it were, is that voter turnout is enormous. That should bode well for Barrett. 2010 was such a disaster because Milwaukee did not get out and vote, like they had in ’08. They are predicting upwards of 90% in Madison. Walker won in 2010 because voter turnout was 50%. Barrett would have won if it was at 60%. I did have a lot of hope but the race got much closer the last week and with the voter turnout the way it is, I’m a little more optimistic. I’ll add comments if I hear anything, I monitor local blogs as well.

  7. It should say above that I did NOT hold out much hope but then the race tightened up.

  8. Sadly, this is bigger than just Wisconsin. Read that Walker had an 8:1 money advantage.
