Trump fired Kristi Noem and intends to replace her with Oklahoma Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin. Mullins is a right-wing fanatic who used to run his family plumbing business and has also competed in mixed martial arts. So of course he’s qualified to run the Department of Homeland Security (/sarcasm). I’ve already heard it said that he’s the only politician in Washington dumber than the Gnome, other than Trump. Unfortunately Trump is giving the Gnome a new job. She “will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida.” That sounds fairly terrifying.
I knew when I watched some low-lights of the hearing yesterday that she was toast. She just doesn't have the killer instincts that Bondo has. Diaper don doesn't really care if you suck at your job as long as you look tough. Apparently murdering two American civilians and shooting a couple more wasn't enough to get her fired but having a bad performance at on oversight hearing was just a bridge too far!
Few people are as shark-like as Bondo. I think law school is a magnet for these types. It's where the name "Shark Tank" comes from.
ICE Barbie was too much drama, was rumored to be having an affair with Cory Lewandowski (both are married), and Lewandowski is also leaving. Blowing $millions on self-promoting commercials didn't help.
I view it as a win that she's out in part to the pushback the public generated after their war on Minnesota.

Yeah, in particular the part about how she spent $220 million on slick television ads to boost her own name recognition. Trump thinks nobody but him gets name recognition.
Well I watched those ads and stump has plenty of visibility in all of them, noem is the star but Trump has all sorts of phony praise heaped on him. I don't believe for a second he didn't approve the ads, they have been running for a year everyday on the ABC evening news and our local evening news in Chicago, Me thinks Noem got canned because she looked weak at the hearings.
I believe another reason Gnome got canned was because of the indiscrete bedroom antics of her and Lewandowski. Trump's the alpha, and doesn't like it when another bull is getting it on with one of "his" women, but he'll tolerate it as long as they're useful to him and its kept under wraps. Once its made public, he’s embarrassed because in his mind it makes him "look bad" which is why he canned them both. Recall Lewandowski previously was messing around with Hope Hicks, a former Trump fave, and Trump shitcanned him not long after. At the time it was said to be because he sexually harassed the wife of a Trump super PAC donor, and we know how little Trump cares about views that. Lewandowski was doing the same shit Trump and his Epstein club buddies were doing on the island, but was too low rent to maintain it under wraps.
Oversight voted yesterday to subpoena Bondi over the Epstein Files. This is Trimp's kryptonite, lethal if it gets too close. Bondi wants to go full-Trump in suppressing anything damaging, but there are problems. Damage done to the victims may be subject to civil litigation.
I am not a lawyer, but the victims can be harmed in two ways. Their identities can be released, deliberately or in error – DOJ and Bondi may still be liable of victims ae threatened and intimidated because of a DOJ 'accident.'. The truth about who participated in child molestation and statutory rape damages the victim again when the DOJ suppresses information that the victims provided at great risk and with personal anguish. DOJ has ZERO authority to protect the reputations and wealth of the perps. Yes, they are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but Congress passed a law to release unedited reports – everything. With very few exceptions. I think Bondi is on the hook for what she does, financially and legally.
If we survive through this year, we may need a series of Nuremberg hangings so that these folks can't just go back to soothing their blood lust by killing dogs on their South Dakota ranch.

Now we find out that she needed to get that OK in writing and quit upstaging the guy that is trying to upstage Putin. That was at least a headline in the NYT today and Paul Sonne has a point. Iran supplies drones to Russia, and you would think they would get a little protection in return, but I guess they should have got that deal in writing too.
