All the World Is Staged?

-->
big picture stuff

This morning I saw an ABC News report that al Qaeda is planning terrorist attacks in the U.S. on Monday. Seriously, al Qaeda.

CBS News has learned about a potential terror threat for the day before the election.

Sources told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton that U.S. intelligence has alerted joint terrorism task forces that al Qaeda could be planning attacks in three states for Monday. …

… U.S. authorities are taking the threat seriously, though the sources stress the intelligence is still being assessed and its credibility hasn’t been confirmed. Counterterrorism officials were alerted to the threat out of abundance of caution.

A senior FBI official told CBS News, “The counterterrorism and homeland security communities remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States.  The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.”

And it would be the FBI leaking this, wouldn’t it? It’s like the fake terror alert the Bush Administration put out just before the 2004 election, which is credited with tipping the election to Bush. Somebody wants to mess with our heads.

The Guardian reported today,

Deep antipathy to Hillary Clinton exists within the FBI, multiple bureau sources have told the Guardian, spurring a rapid series of leaks damaging to her campaign just days before the election.

Current and former FBI officials, none of whom were willing or cleared to speak on the record, have described a chaotic internal climate that resulted from outrage over director James Comey’s July decision not to recommend an indictment over Clinton’s maintenance of a private email server on which classified information transited.

“The FBI is Trumpland,” said one current agent.

The currently serving FBI agent said Clinton is “the antichrist personified to a large swath of FBI personnel,” and that “the reason why they’re leaking is they’re pro-Trump.”

And are these the same people telling us about an increased terrorist threat? By al Qaeda, of all groups? What happened to ISIS? Never mind; I suppose one boogeyman is as good as another.

But now everything in the news is suspect. Google is running a tribute to Walter Cronkite today. We need a Cronkite now; someone who can speak with authority to the nation about what’s really going on.

Kurt Eichenwald has a new article up at Newsweek about the many connections between Moscow and the Trump campaign. The evidence may be circumstantial, but there’s boatloads of it. Many scoundrels have been convicted on less. Yet I see people on the Right and Left dismissing the possibility of a Trump-Putin connection as just Clinton propaganda. When we read something that doesn’t jibe with our views, we assume we’re just being manipulated.

We can’t run a democracy this way.

Not that I’m not concerned about the possibility of an ISIS(L), or even al Qaeda (really?), attack on Monday, but I’m more worried about Election Day and post-election attacks from t-RUMP’s armed Y’all Qaeday t-RUMP-a-loon-pa’s!

And it sure is beginning to look like our FBI wants to be t-RUMP’s Gestapo if he gets elected.

All the more reason to help GOTV for Hillary in these last few days.
I’m making calls from home, since y door-knocking days are done.

And after this election, we neee to think about some serious restructuring of our FBI, NSA, and CIA. They’re all just a collection of Authoritarians, who manage to make a fuster-cluck out of just about every internal and external security threat.
But we won’t even be allowed to think about any restructuring, because the Republicans in Congress won’t allow it – especially now that they believe that the FBI is on their side. And who knows about what the CIA and NSA are, or will be, up to.

    The FBI as t-RUMP’s Gestapo!
If that don’t scare the shit out of you, you done been wrung out and left shitless some time ago.

    Guardian :
    ” “the reason why they’re leaking is they’re pro-Trump.””

No, the reason they are leaking is because they forgot what the FBI is. In some settings (FBI), it is considered criminal behavior as well as being grossly unprofessional.

The FBI’s purview is investigation and not judgment.

You sure about al Qaeda planning an attack? I heard it was the Baader-Meinhof Gang.Who knows? Maybe it will be Black September.

  4. LongHairedWeirdo  •  Nov 4, 2016 @3:33 pm

Jesus. It’s like, no one’s even *pretending* any more. Except the media, which is just plowing along, “well, no one’s claiming that this is a bunch of awfully convenient media leaks, and we sure don’t want to invent a story out of nothing so OMG EMAILS!”

  5. Tom_b  •  Nov 4, 2016 @3:45 pm

    Texas?

  6. erinyes  •  Nov 4, 2016 @4:07 pm

I’m not believing what I’m seeing. The core mission of the FBI is to battle corruption. It appears that Rudi and T-rump have a mole in the FBI. Trump could pull it off, and I’m surprised at the number of church ladies who are backing the p-grabber. Insane. Pat Robertson and Jim Bakker are pushing trump also. Go figure.

  7. Bonnie  •  Nov 4, 2016 @4:52 pm

Well, it certainly proves what we have always known–and, that is the family values people are big time hypocrites. Also, it shows that our big time media outlets are not even a small bit above the National Enquirer any more.

  8. csm  •  Nov 4, 2016 @4:57 pm

“…U.S. intelligence has alerted joint terrorism task forces that al Qaeda could be planning attacks in three states for Monday. …”

Given this is coming from the FBI, it’ll probably be leaked that the states in question are three swing states up for grabs. Coincidentally, of course.

The integrity of the FBI has really been damaged by these out of control “rogue agents” acting on unilaterally on “evidence” that is nothing more than your garden variety wingnut Clinton conspiracy theories. And because of politics, the President and Attorney General are hamstrung in bringing the hammer down; leaking is illegal to begin with, let alone doing so as a federal employee to sway elections in violation of the Hatch Act. Some say in order for that there has to be “intent.” Well how much more intent do you need to have then to hear these jokers claim they are doing it because they hate Hillary? Arrrghhh!!!!

What’s even more frightening is the casual way in which the media and everyone, democrats included, are bending over backwards to give these people the benefit of the doubt instead of coming down hard as they should to at least mitigate and not prevent these acts from establishing what would be a dangerous precedent, that the FBI and intelligence agencies are now political actors who can use their power and reach to influence elections.

  9. csm  •  Nov 4, 2016 @5:10 pm

    And how about this:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/rudy-giuliani-fbi-clinton-emails_us_581c9e3fe4b0e80b02c93d6b?ij36pfg576k0c6jemi

Here you have Nosferatu bragging about having advance knowledge of the FBI to review more emails and the information being shared with the Trump campaign weeks ago. The “October Surprise” Trump’s daughter in law talked about a week before the Comey bombshell:

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/trump-daughter-in-law-lara-hints-clinton-related-surpises-article-1.2842932

If the FBI is colluding with the Trump campaign by providing it with information about plans to use leaks to its benefit, if that ain’t illegal I don’t know what is. If this were Clinton it would be the LEAD story from the time this bombshell was dropped, and yet the Trump team has normalized corruption and crazy to the extent that they can get away with anything. Meanwhile, if anyone remotely related to Clinton sends an effing email, its high crimes and misdemeanors!

I heard two talk show hosts say, independently, that Clinton is on track to win on Tuesday, and that all this sturm and drang we are hearing from the media is nothing more than designed to keep us all glued to the TVs. Best thing we can do between now and Nov 9th to maintain health sanity is turn them off!

  10. paradoctor  •  Nov 4, 2016 @6:07 pm

Al Qaeda? No worries: Clinton need only remind the people of those states that she and Obama fed bin Laden to the fish.

  11. bernie  •  Nov 4, 2016 @6:37 pm

Tom_b. It took me some time, but it was well worth it.  The best one word poetry I ever read.  Thanks.

First draft of her speech, just in case:
“Dear people of (stricken state), I mourn for your losses, and I promise that under a Clinton Administration, we shall bring those responsible to justice, just as the Obama Administration brought justice to Osama bin Laden.”

  13. Bonnie  •  Nov 4, 2016 @7:55 pm

My sister and I are planning a movie marathon on election day to forget about all the trash talking. And, I have the movie collection to run a marathon for a least a week if not more. We live in Washington, which has all mail-in voting. Our votes are in.

OT – I’m working with AVAAZ on a GOTV program – You can work from home from your computer and earn up to $225 per day If you want in, just send an email to Texters@avaaz.org with the following info: your name, phone number, a little bit a.out you, and a brief explanation of why you care about this election.

Maha – I hope you don’t mind, but there may be a few who can help w/ this election and earn a few bucks besides.

  15. maha  •  Nov 4, 2016 @8:53 pm

    Doug — I don’t mind at all.

  16. c u n d gulag  •  Nov 4, 2016 @10:44 pm

    Thanks, Doug!

But I’m already committed to making calls the old fashioned way:
    As a volunteer!
    (Yeah, I know: STUPID!).

Oh, and btw, I’m less worried about the results today, despite the FBI’s efforts to shift this election towards t-RUMP.
    Why?
The humans with grabbable pussies! 😆

Even in the Reddest states – imo – women will tell their husband’s/boyfriend’s/significant other’s, the following:
    “NO! Don’t help me by filling-out my ballot! I’m a grown-up. I’m not a child! I’m a WOMAN!!! And of course, I’ll vote for t-RUMP!”
And then, when voting, a vast majority of women, WILL VOTE FOR HILLARY!!!!!

    FUCK YOU, DONALD t-RUMP!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, on Wednesday, I can reflect on this year’s election fiasco, AND LAUGH!
Only to start worrying about a Tom Cotten – or some other Reich-Wing uber -“Christian” loon’s – run, in 2020, starting on Thursday…
    Oy……..

  17. Swami  •  Nov 5, 2016 @12:31 am

Well, I’ll post Trump is a big bag of shit comments all over the internet. And I’ll do it for nothing. For me it’s kinda like a patriotic duty.
Trump is offensive on every level..He’s a guy who has cultivated every characteristic and quality of personality that most of us have worked to eliminate in our lives if we were unfortunate enough to posses them in the first place.

I wish I had the magic words to alert my fellow American to what a massive mistake they’d be making in voting for Trump..The best I can come up with is the biblical admonition..You shall know them by their fruits. When you look at the trail of misery that Trump has left in his wake it’s not hard to understand the wisdom of that admonishment.

Divorices that ended with marital relationships so bitter that they had be locked down in secrecy by way of severe financial penalties imposed upon his former wives if they so much as breathed a word on how sick an individual Trump is. Multiple bankruptcies that have destroyed businesses and inflicted untold financial misery upon thousands of people. Again, where the details of his malfeasance and ineptitude are hidden by nondisclosure agreements or other legal mechanisms designed to hide what a dirtbag Trump is.

He’s been involved in, and has initiated well over a thousand lawsuits when the average person will never even be involved in one for their entire life..There’s something to be gleaned from that bit of trivia..and you can rest assured it’s not a positive for Trump.
When you walk the path of life and have to cover your tracks in secrecy and denial that’s a very good indication that you haven’t been walking in the paths of righteousness.
Trump is a narcissistic pathological liar. He’s a lecher and a sociopath. He’s so self- absorbed and self centered that if he were a celestial body in the universe he’d be a black hole.

To conclude..It is my possessional opinion that Mr Trump is a big big odious bag of shit and that voting for him would be major mistake. Believe me.

  18. c u n d gulag  •  Nov 5, 2016 @8:29 am

    Swami,
“You shall know them by their fruits…” is one of the reasons old, white, “straight” “Christians” will vote for t-RUMP:
They hate LGBTQ folks, whereas, we Libtards don’t care what anyone does with a consenting adult.
Life’s too damn short, HAVE FUN!!!

Take 40 minutes and watch Bill Maher’s interview of President Obama:

Swami: He thinks he’s a star that shines. Really he’s a black hole that sucks.

  21. moonbat  •  Nov 5, 2016 @12:33 pm

Great Bill Maher on Trumplandia in the FBI.

“I know this is a comedy show and I’m going try to keep it on that level,” the visibly angry comedian said during his opening monologue. “But it’s not fcking funny.”

“There is a slow-moving right-wing coup going on,” he added. “Media, do your fcking job! Report on it!”

Between the FBI and the Russians trying to sway the election for Trump, who Maher calls out as an effectively a Russian agent, these are scary, and historic times, testing what this country is made of.

  22. Swami  •  Nov 5, 2016 @2:05 pm

I don’t mean to litter this blog with profanities by calling Trump a big bag of shit..But there is no other descriptor that adequately conveys the essence and totality of who Trump is. I could spend days combing through Roget’s Thesaurus in search of words to comprehensively describe what a big bag of shit Trump is. Although the sheer volume of words needed to satisfy that criterion would be overwhelming, so, it’s so much easier and effective to use a profanity that encapsulates exactly what a big bag of shit he is.
Please excuse my crudeness or lack of political correctness in call Trump a big bag of shit — because that’s what he is. And if my use of profanity reflects poorly on me then that is a burden I’m willing bear in service to my country.

  23. Swami  •  Nov 5, 2016 @2:32 pm

gulag .. I watched the video and I share your sentiments.. When I compare the intellectual eloquence of Obama with the drool coming forth from Trump’s mouth, I shudder in disbelief.
“I, Donald J Trump, call for the complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until we can figure out what the heck is going on”
Trump is such a mental slug that it just blows my mind..He an intellectual bottom feeder.

  24. Doug  •  Nov 5, 2016 @9:22 pm

“Trump is such a mental slug that it just blows my mind..He an intellectual bottom feeder.”

Yep, Swami – and so are a great number of voters. IMO, both parties have perpetuated a myth for the voters that anybody could do the job of statesman. We have an entry-level body, the US House of Representatives. The best of that body aspire to be Senator. And hitorically, it’s generally a Senator (with an occasional general) who runs for POTUS.

Yes, anyone can become president – Obama proved that. Bit the idea that you don’t need years of preparation to apply for the job should be debunked.

  25. elkern  •  Nov 7, 2016 @11:14 am

Doug – small quibble. Most recent Presidents got there through the Governor track, which makes sense, because it’s an Executive rather than Legislative position.

    Obama – Sen
    Bush II – Gov, TX
    Clinton I – Gov, AR
Bush I – CIA director? (I forget what else)
    Reagan – Gov, CA
    Carter – Gov, GA

Did anyone out there learn anything from the two non-elections of George Bush? I find that I agree with Trump on one particular point. He alluded to the likelihood of election fraud. He was right. He claimed he would not accept the results if he lost. The fact that he supposedly won is tantamount to proof that there was fraud indeed. Given that the Republicans serve their 1% masters, how is it that they are able to get any of their candidates elected? That means the 99% must have at least 48% who are too mentally challenged to stand up for their own interests. Do a little research and you will find that republican administrations are disastrous to our economy time after time. The fact that the vote count is carried out by privately owned entities without any oversight is licensed election theft. Now look another idiot loose in the white house! The only candidate qualified, Bernie Sanders, was forced out. What we need to know is why and how. Threatened by the FBI? Anthrax in the mail? Airplane crash? Suicide by Tylenol? In case you hadn’t noticed the entire government is under the thumb of the executive branch which is staffed with members of the new criminal class who are above the rule of law. In fact law enforcement are the front line of the criminal class empowered to protect the wealthy elite who by the way, own the “democratic republic”. The lone super power now lead by a spoiled, arrogant loser, is poised to flush mankind down the toilet.

“The only candidate qualified, Bernie Sanders, was forced out. What we need to know is why and how. Threatened by the FBI? Anthrax in the mail? Airplane crash? Suicide by Tylenol?” He lost the nomination. Why and how is something we discussed a lot here at Mahablog, but in the absence of hard evidence I don’t claim the primary votes were rigged.
