New York Health Insurance Rates to Plummet

This is good news for me, anyway

State insurance regulators say they have approved rates for 2014 that are at least 50 percent lower on average than those currently available in New York. Beginning in October, individuals in New York City who now pay $1,000 a month or more for coverage will be able to shop for health insurance for as little as $308 monthly. With federal subsidies, the cost will be even lower.

Supporters of the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, credited the drop in rates to the online purchasing exchanges the law created, which they say are spurring competition among insurers that are anticipating an influx of new customers. The law requires that an exchange be started in every state.

As of this writing, this story has not been made available on the Fox News website.

  1. Don’t you worry about it, maha – it’ll be on FOX!

Just as soon as they can find a way to twist the lowering of rates to the loss of our precious freeDUMB’s and liberTEA’s.

And they’ll probably add that all that this proves, is that “Death Panels” are cheaper than doctor’s visits.

    HARUMPH!!!

  2. I hope they don’t find a way to muck it up in the occupied states, meaning, of course, mucking it up worse than they already have by rejecting medicare expansion (It’s a TRAP!).

  3. Don’t worry! In the red states, the populace will be informed in all seriousness that they are subsidizing rates for New York City, which they all know is a den of iniquity, and resent deeply because they have no local den.

  4. The conservative phrase-of-the-year is “train wreck”… and it’s amazing how it’s the only thing you hear. The problem with the narrative is that it’s unsupported by reality. (Problems there are – others will be, but ‘train wreck?) Moderates who are weary of the GOP synchronized whining competition are going to do a single prarie-dog look. What train wreck?

The result – those deranged will try to infect everyone in sight. Those who are not deranged are (for the most part) immune to the syndrome – unless the hate is reinforced with something tangible. Reality is starting to bite the narrative.

  5. OT – Quote-of-the-day , probably of the month….. make it year

“Black criminality is more than myth; it is socially engineered prophecy. If you believe a people to be inhuman, you confine them to inhuman quarters and inhuman labor, and subject them to inhuman policy. When they then behave inhumanely to each other, you take it is as proof of your original thesis. The game is rigged. Because it must be.”

Gaw-damn, I wish I could write like that.

  6. Wingnuts will find a way to spin it negatively, as Bill Bush upstream noted. There was an article a few days ago, People May Choose to Leave Jobs, because health care will start to become uncoupled from employment, and the wingnuts went crazy with it. Evidently they know of nobody who is stuck in a job they don’t want largely/solely because of the health benefits.

  7. Doug,
Just to let you know, this line:
    “…GOP synchronized whining…”

I AM SOOOOOOOOOO STEALIN… LIBERATING IT!!!!!

  8. OT, I see Glenn Beck, I mean Greenwald has Shiny New Book coming out next year on the NSA “scandal”. Wow I thought he and Snowden were only trying to inform our citizens about goverment abuse. Funny now we have to wait a year and pay for a book to get “informed’. Typical…….
